20080201465Centralized Monitoring of Distributed Systems - A remote server managing multiple client computers at a customer site communicates with a server at a service provider site. A proxy gateway at the remote server allows communications through a network to the server at the service provider site. Remote monitoring of the multiple client computers may be performed at the server at the service provider site through a central monitoring console.08-21-2008
20120017120MONITORING ACTIVITY WITH RESPECT TO A DISTRIBUTED APPLICATION - Techniques are described herein that are capable of monitoring activity with respect to a distributed application. A server system includes logical tiers, each including processing system(s) configured to process messages in accordance with a respective protocol (e.g., an ASP.net® protocol, WCF protocol, SQL protocol, etc.). When a user initiates an activity with respect to a distributed application, hops are performed between the logical tiers and/or between components of the distributed application to complete the requested activity. A hop is a transfer of a message or a procedure call from one processing system to another processing system. A common identifier may be assigned to each of the hops that are performed with regard to the activity. If a failure occurs with respect to the activity, the common identifier may be used to gather information regarding the hops. For instance, the information may be used to determine a source of the failure.01-19-2012

20080281958Unified Console For System and Workload Management - Disclosed are systems and methods for implementing a unified console for managing computing-based devices. Described is a unified management solution to efficiently manage one or more workloads or a plurality of tasks performed by a user for managing the resources of applications in a computer network that includes the computing-based devices. The system can be implemented by providing a combined functionality that includes features of monitoring and update services, in a single console.11-13-2008
20100241690COMPONENT AND DEPENDENCY DISCOVERY - Methods, systems, and computer-readable media are disclosed for discovering components and dependencies in a distributed computing environment. A particular method includes discovering a first component and a second component of a distributed computing environment, where the first component and the second component are associated with different discoverable technologies. Each component is discovered based on a match between a characteristic of the component and a technology specification associated with the discoverable technology. The method also includes discovering a dependency between the first component and the second component.09-23-2010
20100251263MONITORING OF DISTRIBUTED APPLICATIONS - Methods, systems, and computer-readable media are disclosed for monitoring a distributed application. A particular method identifies a plurality of components of a distributed application. The method also identifies a specific technology associated with a particular component and attaches a technology specific interceptor to the particular component based on the identified specific technology. The method includes intercepting messages that are sent by or received by the particular component using the technology specific interceptor. At least one potential work item is generated based on the intercepted messages. The method includes determining whether to schedule the at least one potential work item for execution based on a predicted impact of the at least one work potential item on performance of the distributed application.09-30-2010

20090327300MANIFEST-BASED ENHANCED PRESENCE PUBLISHING - Architecture that facilitates the formalization of contracts across multiple points of presence of a given user so that the multiple presence points can harmoniously publish presence. Enhanced presence publishing rules are formalized as a contract by all the endpoints of a given infoworker. An infoworker can signed on from different releases of software endpoints and to have a consistent presence experience. The infoworker can modify the publishing rules contract in a discoverable fashion by the other infoworker software endpoints. A container contract is provided having default container memberships (presence levels) and static publications. The rules associated with setting and verifying consistency of the default presence store container memberships (presence levels) is formalized. Additionally, the rules associated with making static publications at first time software endpoint registration and verifying consistency of the static publications at subsequent endpoint bootstrapping are formalized.12-31-2009
20090328062SCALABLE AND EXTENSIBLE COMMUNICATION FRAMEWORK - An extensible communication framework is presented that provides a standard, reusable implementation of common code for adding new modes of communication to a unified communications application. The framework loosely couples the signaling and media plane of unified communications to enable the two planes to be separated onto different computer systems or processes and to allow application writers to extend only the portion where they want to add new functionality. Thus, the extensible communication framework provides flexibility without excessive complexity.12-31-2009
20100024044SPECIFYING RIGHTS IN A DIGITAL RIGHTS LICENSE ACCORDING TO EVENTS - A digital license specifies rights with regard to corresponding digital content, and in particular specifies at least one event and for the at least one event at least one of a condition precedent to allowing the event to proceed and an action to be taken once the event has occurred. To respond to a request for an event from a rendering application with regard to the content, event code corresponding to the event is located in the license, and the condition within the event code is evaluated. If evaluated as true, the requested event is allowed to proceed, whereby the rendering application performs the event, and the action within the event code is executed. If evaluated as false, the requested event is denied.01-28-2010
20110179107Parking and Un-Parking of Conversations in Multiple Modalities - A park request is received from a first computing system. The park request is a request to park a conversation between a user of the first computing system and a user of a second computing system. The park request conforms to a protocol that supports parking and unparking of conversations having a first modality and conversations having a second modality. Furthermore, an unpark request is received from a third computing system. The unpark request is a request to unpark the conversation. Referral information is sent to the third computing system. The referral information enables the third computing system to establish a communication session to carry the conversation.07-21-2011

20120023084Computer-Implemented System And Method For Providing Searchable Online Media Content - A computer-implemented system and method for providing searchable online media content is provided. A data store is maintained through an online media server. Media content, including device-playable data provided for dynamic online use, is stored. Media metadata, including markers synchronized to sections of the device-playable data, is also stored. The media content and media metadata are functionally combined through a layered network architecture. The data store is provided as a data layer. Applications are provided within a client layer that execute on a client interconnected to the network. Service interfaces are provided within a data access layer, which are each accessible by at least one of the applications. The media content and the media metadata are combined in response to a request received through a service interface from one of the applications. The combined media content and media metadata are served to the requesting application including streaming the device-playable data.01-26-2012

20090249210COMPUTER SYSTEM WITH ENHANCED USER INTERFACE FOR IMAGES - A computer system and method are presented that enhance a user experience when viewing images displayed on the computer. The system includes a user interface for the computer that displays a number of thumbnail images that are small representations of image files existing on the computer. The thumbnail images are arranged in alignment with one another, such as at the bottom of a viewing window. An enlarged preview image is positioned adjacent the thumbnail images. The enlarged preview image corresponds to a selected thumbnail image and is a larger representation of an image file corresponding with the selected thumbnail image. A control is displayed in the window that enables the user to iterate through the thumbnail images in at least one direction. As the user iterates through the thumbnail images, the enlarged preview image changes correspondingly.10-01-2009
