Process for removing growth factors from platelets - A sub-atmospheric, negative pressure is applied to a growth factor starting material, such as whole blood, to release growth factors and plasma in a non-destructive medium. The released growth factors having a weight of about 70-76 kDaltons are applied in either a filtered or unfiltered state to a wound to promote healing of the wound. The released growth factors are applied topically to the area of a surface wound to effect healing. The released growth factors are also injected into soft tissue, such as a torn tendon, to promote tissue growth and healing. The growth factors are released in one method from a patient's own blood. In another method the growth factors are released from a whole blood source and freeze dried by conventional lyophilization. Then at a later date, the freeze dried product is reconstituted by normal saline for treatment of a patient's wound or for use in a surgical procedure. | 01-13-2011

Growth factor extractor - A reservoir is supported by a base in a vertical position. A reciprocating member is positioned in the reservoir forming an internal chamber. The chamber receives growth factor starting material through an inlet in the reciprocating member. After the inlet is sealed, the reciprocating member increases the volume of the chamber to apply negative pressure to the growth factor starting material within to produce activated growth factors. The activated growth factors are extracted from the chamber through an outlet in the reciprocating member. Optionally, the growth factor starting material is held in the chamber to separate into fractions. | 02-17-2011

Lyophilized platelet rich plasma for the use in wound healing (chronic or acute) and bone or tissue grafts or repair - This invention relates to an improved Lyophilized platelet rich plasma used to make a platelet gel wound healant, and methods of preparation and use thereof for healing wounds are disclosed. The improved wound healant comprises therapeutically effective amounts of activated growth factors, platelet ghost, plasma (know as the plasma back bone), white blood cells with optional none, one or more additional anti-oxidant such as vitamin A and/or C and/or E, and/or none one or more antibiotics and/or GHK-Cu (produced by ProCyte Inc.) | 09-04-2008

GARMENT WITH DEPLOYABLE HOOD AND METHOD FOR USING SAME - A garment, and methods of using the garment, including a main body portion, a collar attached to the main body portion, and a hood attached to the main body portion adjacent to the collar. The collar includes first and second flaps that define a collar pocket. The hood is moveable between a non-deployed position where it is received within the collar pocket and a deployed position where it is not received within the collar pocket. | 02-05-2009
MOTORCYCLE SISSY BAR LUGGAGE MOUNTING SYSTEM - A piece of luggage that includes a main body portion having a front and a back and a system for mounting the piece of luggage on an object. The system includes at least first and second receivers attached to the front of the main body portion, a horizontally oriented band and first and second rods. The horizontally oriented band includes a plurality of vertically oriented passages defined therethrough. The first receiver and one of the passages cooperate to define a first path and the second receiver and one of the passages cooperate to define a second path. The first and second rods are each respectively removably received in the first and second paths. In a preferred embodiment, the band includes a middle section having a vertically oriented slot defined therein and two adjustment sections extending outwardly from the middle section. A plurality of vertically oriented passages are defined through each of the adjustment sections and the mounting system also includes a vertically oriented strap extending from the front of the main body portion that is adapted to be received in the vertically oriented slot. | 06-18-2009

COMPENSATION OF ETHERNET TRANSMIT BASELINE WANDER - Compensation of transmit baseline wander in data transmission on a network. In one aspect, compensating for baseline wander includes receiving a signal to be transmitted by a transmitter, where the transmitter is operable with a higher-speed transmission standard requiring magnetics a first open circuit inductance. The signal is processed to compensate for a transmit baseline wander in the signal, the transmit baseline wander associated with a lower-speed transmission standard that requires magnetics with a second open circuit inductance that is higher than the first open circuit inductance. The processed signal is to be provided for transmission on a twisted pair cable of the network. | 08-13-2009
