20110256628ADAPTIVE TISSUE ENGINEERING SCAFFOLD - The embodiments described herein include porous scaffolds formed from a stimuli-responsive polymer. The stimuli-responsive polymer of the scaffold creates a “smart” scaffold that changes properties in response to an effective stimulus applied to the stimuli-responsive polymer. In a preferred embodiment, an effective stimulus applied to the scaffold initiates a phase transition event in the stimuli-responsive polymer that results in a change in the volume of the pores of the scaffold. The scaffolds can be used to capture appropriately sized objects (e.g., cells) by using the volume-change properties of the pores. Relatedly, the scaffolds can be used as tissue-engineering scaffolds by capturing cells in the pores and introducing the cell-loaded scaffold into a cell-growth environment (e.g., in vivo).10-20-2011

20080312977METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PROVIDING AVAILABILITY OF AIRLINE SEATS - A computer program product, method and system for producing seat availability information for a mode of travel such as airline travel produce a prediction of availability of a seat in accordance with an availability query. The prediction is used in place of making an actual query to an airline or other travel mode availability system.12-18-2008

20090234682METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PROVIDING AVAILABILITY OF AIRLINE SEATS - An availability system used for a travel planning system includes a cache having entries of availability information of seats for a mode of transportation. The system includes a cache manager that manages entry information in the cache so that information in the cache is correct, current, complete or otherwise as useful as possible. The cache manager determines when a stored answer is stale and, if a stored answer is stale, sends an availability query to a source of availability information.09-17-2009
20100153143AVAILABILITY PROCESSING IN A TRAVEL PLANNING SYSTEM - A travel planning system that implements seat availability determinations is described. The planning system includes a scheduling process for determining a set of instances of transportation that satisfy a user query and a faring process that determines fares valid for at least some of the instances in the set of instances of transportation. The travel planning system also includes an availability process that uses results from a single source of seat availability for a mode of transportation to determine a set of available instances of transportation and determines whether the results from the single source are reliable.06-17-2010
20110022426GRAPHICAL USER INTERFACE BASED AIRLINE TRAVEL PLANNING - Graphical user interface (GUI) based methods and systems to generate and revise travel itineraries, including to permit a user to input or select multiple sequential travel destinations and corresponding dates in a calendar based GUI, to generate a travel itinerary using default itinerary parameters, to display the travel itinerary and user configurable itinerary parameter within the GUI, and to revise the travel itinerary in response to user configured itinerary parameters. An itinerary parameter may be configurable to apply to a selected portion of the itinerary or to the entire itinerary. User selectable options may be displayed in a natural language format. User input may be performed with relatively few actions, and may be performed exclusively or nearly exclusively with a pointing device.01-27-2011

20100312056Endoscope shaft - An endoscope including a control section; and a shaft extending from the control section. The shaft includes a frame including a one-piece tube. The tube includes a plurality of slots into the tube along at least one length of the tube to form spaced sections on opposite sides of each slot. A first one of the sections comprises a projection which extends into a pocket of a second one of the sections such that the projection and pocket form an over-travel limiter to limit relative motion of the first and second sections relative to each other in at least one direction.12-09-2010

20090313087METHOD FOR OPTIMIZING NET PRESENT VALUE OF A CROSS-SELLING MARKETING CAMPAIGN - The present invention applies a novel iterative algorithm to the problem of multidimensional optimization by supplying a strict, nonlinear mathematical solution to what has traditionally been treated as a linear multidimensional problem. The process consists of randomly selecting a statistically significant sample of a prospect list, calculating the value of the utility function for each pair of an offer and selected prospects, reducing the original linear multidimensional problem to a non-linear problem with a feasible number of dimensions, solving the non-linear problem for the selected sample numerically with the desired tolerance using an iterative algorithm, and using the results to calculate an optimal set of offers in one pass for the full prospect list.12-17-2009
