METHODS AND ARRANGEMENTS FOR PRIORITIZATION IN A PEER-TO-PEER NETWORK - The present invention relates to nodes and methods for use in connection with a peer-to-peer network for sharing of data content. A priority mechanism is introduced by means of which a serving peer may select which requesting peers to serve based on their need for data content in terms of the degree of urgency. A requesting peer may include an urgency indicator in a request for data content, which for instance may be the amount of buffered data available for playback in a video buffer. The serving peer may then extract the urgency indicator from the request and apply a priority mechanism which uses the urgency indicator to select which peers to upload data content to. | 02-02-2012

System and Method for Ingesting Media Content in a Peer-to-Peer Network - The invention relates to a method and system hardware for ingesting media content in a peer-to-peer network from a data stream. The data stream is made up of a sequence of packets of media data, and each packet is identified by a sequence identifier. The method includes commencing caching of the data packets from the data stream. A missing data packet is identified using the sequence identifiers of the packets and the size of the missing data packet is determined. A portion of the memory medium is skipped to provide a skipped portion of medium having no data cached therein. The skipped portion has a size corresponding to the determined size of the missing data packet. The missing data packet is then retrieved and inserted into the skipped portion of the memory medium. The system includes an ingestion element configured to receive the content in a data stream, to define blocks of media data that make up the content, to generate metadata associated with each block, the metadata identifying the construction of the block from the data stream, and to transmit the data stream as a multicast stream to other network nodes. The other network nodes include at least one cache element configured to construct at least one of the blocks from the multicast data stream in accordance with the metadata, and to cache the data block. The system also includes a database accessible to network nodes, the database recording a location of each of the cached data blocks in the network. | 07-21-2011

METHOD FOR STORING DATA AS WELL AS A TRANSPONDER, A READ/WRITE-DEVICE, A COMPUTER READABLE MEDIUM INCLUDING A PROGRAM ELEMENT AND SUCH A PROGRAM ELEMENT ADAPTED TO PERFORM THIS METHOD - A method for storing or reading data in a memory array of a transponder and a corresponding transponder, read/write device and program element is described. Therein, a data structure for storing data within the memory array is defined by a predetermined protocol. The data structure comprises: a header data block including predefined header data; an application data block for storing application data; a memory control data block including a reservation indicator for indicating a reserved partial memory area of the memory array where, in accordance with the predetermined protocol, application data cannot be read or written by a protocol compliant reader device. The method for storing data comprises storing additional application data in the reserved partial memory area. Thereby, memory areas which, according to the predetermined protocol, are not used can be used for new applications, data can be hidden in these areas such that they can not be read by protocol compliant reader devices and the data structure read or written by the method of the invention is compatible with the former predetermined protocol. | 01-21-2010
Therein, a data file system for storing data within the memory array is defined by a predetermined protocol. The data structure comprises: a capability container file containing management data and an application data file for storing application data. The capability container file includes an application data file control data block containing information to control the application data file. The application data file includes an application data length indicator indicating a memory size of first application data stored in the application data file in compliance with the predetermined protocol. The method for storing additional data comprises: checking whether a memory size of the application data file is larger than the memory size indicated by the application data length indicator; and storing second application data in a partial memory area of the application data file not occupied by the first application data. Thereby, memory areas which, according to the predetermined protocol, are not used can be used for new applications, data can be hidden in these areas such that they can not be read by protocol compliant reader devices and the data structure read or written by the method of the invention is compatible with the former predetermined protocol. | 01-21-2010

Therein, a data structure for storing data within the memory array is defined by a predetermined protocol. The data structure comprises: a header data block including predefined header data; an application data block for storing application data; and a terminator data block for indicating that, in accordance with the predetermined protocol, no data are stored within the memory array behind the terminator data block. The method for storing data comprises storing additional application data within the memory array behind the terminator data block. Thereby, memory areas which, according to the predetermined protocol, are not used can be used for new applications, data can be hidden in these areas such that they can not be read by protocol compliant reader devices and the data structure read or written by the method of the invention is compatible with the former predetermined protocol. | 04-15-2010 |

ARTICLE WITH THEFT-DETERRING FEATURE - An article formed to receive a security marker in a manner that reduces the likelihood of the security marker from being removed, either intentionally (such as to remove the article from a restricted area without authorization to do so) or inadvertently (such as by getting caught on another article). The security marker may additionally be concealed from view to further deter intentional removal of the security marker. Moreover, the security marker may be associated with the article such that it does not impact the appearance of the article to an observer, yet removal of the security marker would damage the article in a manner that is undesirable to a user of the article and/or readily noticeable by the establishment from which the article is being improperly removed. | 04-22-2010
