Plasma Generating Units for Processing a Substrate - Apparatus and method for plasma-based processing well suited for deposition, etching, or treatment of semiconductor, conductor or insulating films. Plasma generating units include one or more elongated electrodes on the processing side of a substrate and a neutral electrode proximate the opposite side of the substrate. Gases may be injected proximate a powered electrode which break down electrically and produce activated species that flow toward the substrate area. This gas then flows into an extended process region between powered electrodes and substrate, providing controlled and continuous reactivity with the substrate at high rates with efficient utilization of reactant feedstock. Gases are exhausted via passages between powered electrodes or electrode and divider. | 01-13-2011

Process and System For Varying the Exposure to a Chemical Ambient in a Process Chamber - A processing system is disclosed for conducting various processes on substrates, such as semiconductor wafers by varying the exposure to a chemical ambient. The processing system includes a processing region having an inlet and an outlet for flowing fluids through the chamber. The outlet is in communication with a conductance valve that is positioned in between the processing region outlet and a vacuum exhaust channel. The conductance valve rapidly oscillates or rotates between open and closed positions for controlling conductance through the processing region. This feature is coupled with the ability to rapidly pulse chemical species through the processing region while simultaneously controlling the pressure in the processing region. Of particular advantage, the conductance valve is capable of transitioning the processing region through pressure transitions of as great as 100:1 while chemical species are flowed through the processing region using equally fast control valves in a synchronous pulsed fashion. | 12-31-2009

METHOD OF PREHEATING STEELMAKING LADLES - A method for when preheating a ladle for use in steelmaking where less fuel is consumed in heating the ladle efficiently accurately to a controlled temperature. A temperature of a preheating process is varied by controlling a burner of the heating unit based on measurements of refractories of the ladle taken by a pyrometer. The heating unit includes an emissive coating for reducing heat loss and efficient heating during the preheating process. The heating unit also includes valve mechanisms for accurately varying a flame size of the burner of the heating unit during an idle stage of the preheating process. | 12-11-2008

Process and Apparatus for Manufacturing a Styrene Polymer in a Mechanically Stirred Reactor - A process and apparatus for the (co) polymerization of styrene. The process is carried out by employing a liquid polymerization reaction mixture that includes styrene, in a mechanically stirred reactor in the form of a vessel comprising a side wall having the shape of a cylinder of revolution with a vertical axis (A), a bottom head and a top head that are joined to the side wall, the vessel being provided with a mechanical stirring device comprising (i) a central shaft of vertical axis coincident with the axis (A), connected to a drive system comprising a motor for rotating the central shaft, (ii) at least one baffle attached to the vessel, which process is characterized in that the baffle is away from the side wall of the vessel and takes the form of a cylinder of vertical axis and of rhomboidal cross section. | 09-04-2008
PROCESS FOR DEVOLATILIZATION OF POLYMER OF AN AROMATIC ALKYLENE - The present invention relates to a process for devolatilization of a polymer of an aromatic alkylene, such as styrene, and in particular, to an improved process using water as a stripping agent (i) in which the total amount of water to be disposed of can be reduced, (ii) which allows at least a portion of the water to be recycled as stripping agent, reducing make-up requirements for the stripping agent, and (iii) which allows at least a portion of the aromatic alkylene monomer in the water to be recycled to the polymerisation process (via the devolatilization steps) rather than disposed of. | 05-27-2010

REEL MOWER - A reel mower has a double A arm suspension that lowers a reel cutting unit into a cutting position in a tail down orientation and that levels the reel cutting unit out as it lifts the reel cutting unit into a transport position. The reel cutting unit yaws during turns about a substantially vertical axis having a negative caster angle. The suspension has clamps that can be flipped open or closed to quickly attach or detach the reel cutting unit. A drive motor can be quickly attached or detached to the reel cutting unit using a pivotal wire form. An active counterbalance system automatically offsets the increasing weight of a grass basket on the reel cutting unit to maintain quality of cut. The grass basket maintains a constant spacing relative to the reel cutting unit when the reel cutting unit pitches to improve clipping collection. | 07-28-2011
