20080255757METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR ROUTING OCEAN GOING VESSELS TO AVOID TREACHEROUS ENVIRONMENTS - A computer implemented method, apparatus, and computer usable program code for generating a route for a vessel to travel from a start point to an end point. A start point and an end point for the vessel are identified. A forecast of wave conditions during a period of time is obtained. A model of the vessel is obtained, wherein the model includes parameters used to calculate a response of the vessel to the wave conditions. A route is generated from the start point to the end point for the vessel to travel on using the model of the vessel and the forecast of the wave conditions, wherein the route avoids conditions that may cause a treacherous environment and meets a set of goals.10-16-2008
20090281850Situational Awareness System And Method And Associated User Terminal - A system, method and user terminal are provided to facilitate common situational awareness including, for example, awareness of evacuation and emergency vehicle routes. The system includes a plurality of user terminals in communication with a computing device, such as one or more servers. Each user terminal may include a processor and an associated display. The user terminals are configured to receive the evacuation routes and/or the routes for the emergency vehicles, as well as optionally other information regarding the underlying situation, from the computing device for display thereat. The user terminals may provide a field incident report to a computing device that provides the user terminals with information regarding the emergency situation.11-12-2009
20090302149COMPOSITE AIR VEHICLE HAVING A HEAVIER-THAN-AIR VEHICLE TETHERED TO A LIGHTER-THAN-AIR VEHICLE - A system including a heavier-than-air vehicle (HTA), a lighter-than-air vehicle (LTA), and a tether is disclosed. The tether is coupled between the HTA and the LTA such that the LTA supports the HTA. The system may be further configured to suit the needs of the particular application. For example, the system may be configured to be controllable from a remote location or capable of autonomous operations. The system may also be configured such that the HTA comprises a mission payload and communications equipment. In an exemplary embodiment of the invention, the LTA is configured to provide lift for the system and the HTA is configured to provide station-keeping propulsion, the advantage being reduced fuel consumption and increased mission endurance.12-10-2009
20100088011OPTIMAL VEHICLE ROUTER WITH ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM - A method is present for generating a route for a vehicle. A start point and an end point are identified for the vehicle. A spatial model of terrain encompassing the start point and the end point is identified to form an identified spatial model. The route for the vehicle is generated from the start point to the end point using the spatial model based on a cost to traverse a grid point within a grid to meet a number of criteria for energy management for the vehicle.04-08-2010
20100106395AGTM AIRBORNE SURVEILLANCE - Systems, methods and apparatuses for managing ground transportation in a geographical area are disclosed. A system for managing ground transportation in a geographical area in accordance with the present invention comprises at least one airborne surveillance platform, a graphical information systems (GIS) database, receiving information from the airborne surveillance platform, the GIS database storing data that represents the geographical area, the GIS database including at least one node representing at least one geographical location within the geographic area and at least one arc representing at least one street within the geographic area, and a routing tool, coupled to the GIS database, wherein the dynamic routing tool accepts data from the GIS database and determines a transportation route for at least one vehicle within the geographical area using at least the data from the GIS database and the information from the airborne surveillance platform.04-29-2010
