20120112883Disease Mapping and Infection Control System and Method - The present invention is a system and method for disease mapping and infection control. It may collect data from many sources, including through the tracking of Entities and external sources. Such data may be analysed by the system and represented visually. The system further facilitates data modelling. The present invention facilitates calculations of risk and exposure to an infection posed to a person, location or community. The system may be used to test and monitor infection spread and control measures. It can further be configured so as to produce reporting based upon its data to produce information relevant to the creation of infection control policies. The reports may also be utilized to develop standards and measures to improve the operation response to an outbreak of infection within an Institution or a Geographical Area, at the syndromic or pandemic levels.05-10-2012

20100185848SECURE EXTERNAL BUFFER FOR HARD DISK DRIVE SYSTEM ON A CHIP - A system securely buffers hard disk drive data using a host side eXlusive OR (XOR) encryption engine. A host communicates with an encryption interface interposed between the host and a client. Communicatively coupled to the encryption interface is an external buffer for the collection and processing of data. A host side XOR encryption engine, using a random seed, encrypts data originating from the host and places it on the external buffer. Once collected at the buffer and ready for transmittal to the client, the encrypted data is retrieved by the encryption interface and decrypted using the same random seed. The clear data is then encrypted once again using a robust encryption means such as Advance Encryption Standard (AES) encryption by a client side device for conveyance to the client.07-22-2010

20090306460Method and Apparatus for Controlling a Bodily Function - The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for controlling urinary incontinence. An implantable stimulator is utilised to apply stimulation to a sphincter or neosphincter about the urethra, in order to maintain coaptation of the urethra and urinary continence. Feedback is utilised in order to vary the level of stimulation applied to the sphincter in order to enable control over the sphincter. Control may be implemented by a user setting levels, by biofeedback, by a clinician.12-10-2009
20100010290Smooth muscle implant for managing a medical condition - The present invention relates to an implant for managing a medical condition. In particular, it relates to medical treatments which employ smooth muscle implant and discloses a method of augmenting a smooth muscle implant for management of a human medical condition. Augmentation may be by a number of methods. It may be by utilising neurotrophic or trophic factors to assist growth of the smooth muscle tissue or nerve growth within the smooth muscle tissue, or revascularisation of the smooth muscle tissue. It may be by utilising tissue engineering to grow smooth muscle tissue. It may be by adding proliferative smooth muscle cells and/or smooth muscle stem cells for the smooth muscle.01-14-2010
20100010563Method and Apparatus for Treating Fecal Incontinence - The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for treating fecal incontinence. A smooth muscle sphincter is implanted about the distal part of the large intestine in the region of internal anal sphincter or the anal canal, the rectum or the sigmoid colon. The smooth muscle sphincter is electrically stimulated by a stimulator device, in order to contract the smooth muscle sphincter and maintain continence. Stimulation is ceased or varied in order to allow the smooth muscle sphincter to relax and the patient to defecate.01-14-2010

20090265081FUEL QUALITY DETECTION USING TORQUE AND ENGINE SPEED - An engine control system comprises a fuel quality calculation module and a fueling module. The fuel quality calculation module calculates a fuel quality value for fuel provided to an engine based on at least one operating parameter of the engine. The fueling module selectively increases an amount of fuel provided to the engine based on the fuel quality value.10-22-2009
20110083422SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR CONTROLLING REGENERATION OF NITROGEN OXIDE ADSORBERS - An exhaust treatment system includes a nitrogen oxide (NOx) monitoring module and a regeneration control module. The NOx monitoring module monitors first and second NOx levels in an exhaust stream produced by an engine, wherein the first NOx level is measured between first and second portions of a substrate of a NOx adsorber, wherein the second NOx level is measured upstream from the first portion of the substrate, and wherein the first portion of the substrate is upstream from the second portion of the substrate. The regeneration control module initiates a regeneration cycle of the NOx adsorber when the first NOx level is greater than a predetermined percentage of the second NOx level, wherein the regeneration cycle includes injecting hydrocarbons (HC) into the exhaust stream at a location upstream from the NOx adsorber.04-14-2011
