200900822183'-Based sequencing approach for microarray manufacture - Methods are described to derive design sequences for the production of nucleic acid microarrays. The present methods use high throughput 3′ sequencing of transcripts in a tissue sample or diseased state to design probes for nucleic acid microarrays. Also described are nucleic acid microarrays that possess probes directed to the extreme 3′ end of transcripts in a tissue. These microarrays preferably represent alternate polyadenylation sequences that are specific to the tissue from which the transcripts are derived. Also described are methods of using the microarrays directed to the extreme 3′ end of the transcript for evaluating gene expression in a tissue where there are reduced false positive and false negative results.03-26-2009

20090259402SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR IDENTIFYING MANOEUVRES FOR A VEHICLE IN CONFLICT SITUATIONS - The present invention is directed to a system and method for identifying manoeuvres for a vehicle in conflict situations. A plurality of miss points are calculated for the vehicle and as well as object conditions at which the vehicle will miss an impact with the at least one other object by a range of miss distances. The miss points are displayed such that a plurality of miss points at which the vehicle would miss impact by a given miss distance indicative of a given degree of conflict is visually distinguishable from other miss points at which the vehicle would miss impact by greater miss distances indicative of a lesser degree of conflict. The resulting display indicates varying degrees of potential conflict to present, in a directional view display, a range of available manoeuvres for the vehicle in accordance with varying degrees of conflict.10-15-2009

20100211231Operating Electrical Machines from a DC Link - A drive system has a number of electrical machines. One machine operates as a generator supplying an output to a DC link, which in turn supplies one or more machines operating as motors to drive loads. The motors are supplied through power converters. The total capacitance of the DC link is minimized and the link kept in a stable condition by preventing it falling to a hazardous level. One embodiment prevents the phase currents adding in such a manner as to reduce the DC link voltage. Another embodiment employs freewheeling in the phase currents to prevent the DC link voltage falling below a predetermined threshold.08-19-2010
