20090100928Method and device for automated electronic green speed measurement - Method and apparatus for measuring the coefficient of rolling friction or speed of a horizontal surface over which a round object is rolled such as a putting green encountered in the game of golf. The method includes a device for launching a ball across the surface at a constant and consistent velocity. An included timing device is triggered to start counting the elapsed time when the ball exits the launching device and continues counting until the ball has decelerated to a stop. At the instant the ball ceases moving the timer is triggered to terminate the count. The time required for a body with a specific velocity to come to rest after experiencing constant deceleration is determined by the laws of motion. The coefficient of friction or “speed” of the green which is proportional to the amount of deceleration may then be calculated. This time measurement is therefore sufficient to determine the speed of the green surface which may be reported as an equivalent “stimp” value.04-23-2009

20090107668MULTI-FUNCTION COMPLETION TOOL - A multi-functional completion tool which may be lowered into a wellbore coupled to a length of tubing, and then utilized to test various lengths of the tubing at pressure. The tool may also function as a positive plug and may also be used to set the packer, and is also useable as a tubing self-filling tool. Various retention elements are disposed within the tool and configured to release at predetermined pressures, or within predetermined ranges of pressure, thereby transforming the tool from a first configuration to a second configuration depending on the desired function. The tool may also contain a pressure-regulating assembly for regulating the differential pressure across the assembly. The tool may also include an indicator assembly for confirming that the tool has entered a plugging configuration, typically by altering a pressure within the tubing, such alteration being detectible at a surface location.04-30-2009
20100200225MULTI-FUNCTIONAL COMPLETION TOOL - A multi-functional completion tool which may be lowered into a wellbore coupled to a length of tubing, and then utilized to test various lengths of the tubing at pressure. The tool may also function as a positive plug, may be used to set a packer, and is also useable as a tubing self-filling tool. Various retention elements are disposed within the tool and configured to release at predetermined pressures, or within predetermined ranges of pressure, thereby transforming the tool from a first configuration to a second configuration depending on the desired function. The tool may use a flapper mechanism to regulate passage of fluids through the housing, and a piston and/or flow tube may also be utilized to lock the flapper in an open or closed orientation within the housing.08-12-2010

20100117750CRYSTAL OSCILLATOR WITH REDUCED ACCELERATION SENSITIVITY - A crystal oscillator having a plurality of quartz crystals that are manufactured so that the directional orientation of the acceleration sensitivity vector is essentially the same for each crystal. This enables convenient mounting of the crystals to a circuit assembly with consistent alignment of the acceleration vectors. The crystals are aligned with the acceleration vectors in an essentially anti-parallel relationship and can be coupled to the oscillator circuit in either a series or parallel arrangement. Mounting the crystals in this manner substantially cancels the acceleration sensitivity of the composite resonator and oscillator, rendering it less sensitive to vibrational forces and shock events.05-13-2010

20080318598CELL-PHONE-BASED VEHICLE LOCATOR AND "PATH BACK" NAVIGATOR - A hand-held, portable navigation system and method are integrated within a cellular telephone enclosure, resulting in a simplified architecture with fewer buttons to press and items to carry. The apparatus uses a cellular telephone having a microphone, a keypad, GPS receiver, a display, a memory, an earphone, a wireless transceiver, and a processor. The processor is programmed to receive a command through a user input device to determine the initial location of the user and activate the GPS receiver to obtain positional coordinates associated with the initial location. The coordinates are then stored in the memory. A subsequent command through a user input device causes the processor to determine the new location of the user, and the GPS receiver is again activated to obtain positional coordinates of the new location. The processor is further programmed to provide guidance to the user based upon the coordinates of the initial location and the new location enabling the user to return to the initial location from the new location. The user input device may be a portable wireless keyless entry device such as a ‘fob,’ in which case the processor is further operative to receive and store a vehicular DOOR LOCK command in memory, and determine the initial location of the user when the DOOR LOCK command is received and recognized by the telephone.12-25-2008
