20090318875DEVICES AND METHODS TO TREAT NASAL PASSAGES - Some embodiments of a nasal implant delivery system may provide minimally invasive insertion of one or more implants in suitable tissue planes of the nasal rim, the lateral nasal wall, or both. Such a delivery system may be minimally invasive in that it does not require a surgical intervention or an incision that cuts a portion of the nasal tissue. Rather, in some embodiments, the nasal implant delivery system may include a needle or other cannula device having a curvature at the distal portion adapted to penetrate into a targeted tissue plane in the nasal rim, the lateral nasal wall, the nasal septum, or the columella. Also, some embodiments of a delivery system can be used to apply a nasal rigidity supplement to internal or external portions of the nasal rim, the lateral nasal wall, or other nasal structures.12-24-2009

20080214943Detection of Blood Flow Using Emitted Light Absorption - Perfused tissue is illuminated and light passing through the tissue or reflected from it is detected to produce an electrical signal. Amplitude pulses corresponding to the subject's heart beat are detected in the electrical signal and the areas of these pulses are calculated to produce blood flow values indicative of the blood volume pumped by the heart. The blood flow values may be used alone or in combination with other measured cardiac parameters to evaluate cardiac function.09-04-2008
20100198040Methods and apparatus for assessing and improving electrode contact with cardiac tissue - Embodiments of the invention relate to methods for assessing and/or improving contact between an electrophysiology catheter and tissue, and catheters for performing the methods. One embodiment relates to a catheter comprising a braided conductive member coupled to the distal end of a shaft, wherein the braided conductive member comprises a plurality of pressure sensitive wires. Another embodiment relates to a catheter comprising a braided conductive member having a plurality of sectors and coupled to the distal end of a shaft, and a balloon assembly constructed and arranged to selectively apply distal pressure to one or more sectors of the braided conductive member.08-05-2010

20080294229Helical Electrodes for Intramyocardial Pacing and Sensing - The invention provides for an electrical lead, a steerable sheath and steerable catheter, a sheath and catheter that attach to cardiac tissue via an anchor screw, and a method of pacing, particularly via the atrioventricular septum.11-27-2008
20080312715Detecting and Treating Nervous System Disorders - Some embodiments of a mapping device may be capable of passing through cerebral veins and other cerebrovascular spaces to provide electrophysiological mapping of the brain. These embodiments of the device may also be capable of providing, simultaneously or separately, ablation energy or other treatments to targeted brain tissue. In such circumstances, a user may be enabled to analyze an electrophysiological map of a patient's brain and, at the same time or within a short time period before or after the mapping process, may be enabled to apply ablation energy for treatment of a central nervous system disorder. Such treatment may be accomplished without the use of invasive surgery in which the brain is accessed through an opening in the patient's cranium.12-18-2008
20090216264IMPLANTABLE CLOSURE APPARATUS AND METHODS - Implantable closure apparatus and methods for sealing or closing openings at internal body locations. The apparatus and methods may involve the delivery and attachment of a patch, patch and plug, or plug only to seal or close the opening. The closure apparatus and methods may be used to close a patent foramen ovale (PFO).08-27-2009
20100069925DEVICES AND METHODS FOR LIGATING ANATOMICAL STRUCTURES - Devices and methods for ligating anatomical structures are provided herein. In particular, the devices and methods provided herein can be used to ligate the left atrial appendage.03-18-2010
20100087725Novel Sheath and Electrical Lead - The invention describes a steerable sheath for percutaneous epicardial access. The invention also describes a novel lead to facilitate left ventricular pacing and efficient defibrillation.04-08-2010
20110112569NAVIGATION AND TISSUE CAPTURE SYSTEMS AND METHODS - Navigation and tissue capture systems and methods for navigation to and/or capture of selected tissue using the innate electrical activity of the selected tissue and/or other tissue are described. In the context of left atrial appendage closure, the systems and methods can be used to navigate to the left atrial appendage and capture/control the appendage while a closure instrument (suture, clip, ring) is placed over the appendage and tightened down or a closure method (ablation, cryogenic procedures, stapling, etc.) is performed to close the left atrial appendage. The use of innate electrical activity for navigating devices may be used in connection with other tissues and/or areas of the body.05-12-2011
