20090006771Digital data management using shared memory pool - Memory management techniques involve establishing a memory pool having an amount of sharable memory, and dynamically allocating the sharable memory to concurrently manage multiple sets of sequenced units of digital data. In an exemplary scenario, the sets of sequenced units of digital data are sets of time-ordered media samples forming clips of media content, and the techniques are applied when media samples from two or more clips are simultaneously presentable to a user as independently-controlled streams. Variable amounts of sharable memory are dynamically allocated for preparing upcoming media samples for presentation to the user. In one possible implementation, a ratio of average data rates of individual streams is calculated, and amounts of sharable memory are allocated to rendering each stream based on the ratio. Then, the sharable memory allocated to rendering individual streams is reserved as needed to prepare particular upcoming media samples for presentation to the user.01-01-2009

20120047222System and method for enabling client-side initiated identification of media content - There is provided a system and method enabling client-side initiated identification of media content rendered on a client-side media player. In one embodiment, the system comprises the client-side media player including a controller and a memory, a media content database accessible by the client-side media player over a network, and a media content identifier application to be run on the client-side media player. The media content identifier application, when executed by the client-side media player controller, performs a method comprising sampling the media content, sending a first data corresponding to the sample to the media content database over the network, and receiving a second data over the network identifying the media content, thereby enabling client-side initiated identification of the media content rendered on the client-side media player.02-23-2012

20080301009METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PROVIDING FULFILLMENT SERVICES - Method and apparatus for providing inventory fulfillment services to customers who have small quantities of heterogeneous items to sell. A self-service registration interface for generating lists of items to sell via the inventory fulfillment service is provided. The inventory fulfillment service may provide pricing suggestions to the customer. The inventory fulfillment service may determine whether a listed item satisfies one or more listing rules. Shipping information for a list of items may be automatically generated and provided to the customer. The customer may ship the items in one shipment to a specified facility. The customer is the seller of record for all items listed. The customer may not be charged for services until an item is sold. A listing period may be specified for which listed items will be carried. If an item does not sell within the period, option(s) for disposal of the item may be provided.12-04-2008

20090213040Apparatus and Method for Interpolating the Intensities of Scanned Pixels from Source Pixels - A scan assembly of an image generator sweeps an image beam in a first dimension at a first rate and bi-directionally in a second dimension at a slower rate. Sweeping the beam bi-directionally in the vertical dimension (generally the dimension of the lower sweep rate) can reduce the scanning power by eliminating the flyback period, and, where the scan assembly includes a mechanical reflector, can reduce the error in the beam position without a feedback loop by reducing the number of harmonics in the vertical sweep function. Furthermore, because the image beam is “on” longer due to the elimination of the flyback period, the scanned image is often brighter for a given beam intensity. The scan assembly may also sweep the image beam non-linearly in the vertical dimension, and this sweep may be bi-directional or uni-directional. Sweeping the beam non-linearly can also reduce the error in the beam position by reducing the number of harmonics in the vertical sweep function.08-27-2009

20100100260ALTERNATIVE METHOD TO DETERMINE THE AIR MASS STATE OF AN AIRCRAFT AND TO VALIDATE AND AUGMENT THE PRIMARY METHOD - A method, apparatus, and computer program product for identifying air data for an aircraft. The lift for the aircraft is identified. The number of surface positions for the aircraft is identified. The angle of attack during flight of the aircraft is identified. A synthetic dynamic pressure is computed from the lift, the number of surface positions, and the angle of attack.04-22-2010

20090016163LINEAR ARRAY ULTRASOUND TRANSDUCER WITH MICROBEAMFORMER - An ultrasonic diagnostic imaging system has a two dimensional array arranged in multiple patches of multiple transducer elements. Each patch of transducer elements is coupled to a group of microbeamformer delay lines having outputs coupled to a channel of a system beamformer, which beamforms the partially summed beams of each patch into a final beamformed signal. The outputs from multiple patches which are not simultaneously used in the active receive aperture are coupled to a common beamformer channel, enabling the number of patches of the array to exceed the number of channels of the system beamformer without the use of multiplexers.01-15-2009

20090006851CONFIDENTIAL MAIL WITH TRACKING AND AUTHENTICATION - A method for confidential electronic communication between a sender workstation and a receiver workstation is provided, whereby privacy is guaranteed for the electronic communications transmitted over the public Internet. The method of confidential communication is equipped with message tracking and message receipt verification. The system for implementing the method includes a sender server that creates a session content encryption key along with a message envelope that includes a content encryption key encrypted message and a confidential mail token. The content encryption key is stored securely inside the sender organization's system which transmits the message envelope to an intended recipient. The intended recipient processes the message envelope in order to generate a message receipt verification, which is transmitted to the sender. The message receipt verification is processed by the sender server to verify that the message envelope reached the intended recipient. The message receipt verification, which is comprised of the confidential mail token and unique verification data generated by the intended recipient allows the sender server to verify that the message envelope reached the intended receiver and that the message envelope identified as received is authentic. Following verification that the message transmitted by the sender reached the intended receiver and is authorized, the sender transmits the content encryption key to the intended receiver.01-01-2009

20090254639CONFIGURING NETWORK SETTINGS USING PORTABLE STORAGE MEDIA - A portable computer-readable media device and method of use enable automatic configuration of a computing device, such as a conventional network device or a thin client device, for operation in a network. Configuration information, including network settings and security information, is incorporated in an XML file written to the portable media device while it is installed in a first device. This configuration is then automatically transferred to a second device by installing the portable media device in the second device. The second device then writes device information, incorporated in an XML file, to the portable media device, to be uploaded to the first device.10-08-2009

20100262834ONE TIME PASSWORD KEY RING FOR MOBILE COMPUTING DEVICE - Single-use character combinations are a secure mechanism for user authentication. Such “one-time passwords” (OTPs) can be generated by a mobile device to which the user otherwise maintains easy access. A key exchange, such as in accordance with the Diffie-Hellman algorithm, can provide both the mobile device and a server with a shared secret from which the OTPs can be generated. The shared secret can be derived from parameters posted on the server and updated periodically, and the mobile device can obtain such parameters from the server before generating an OTP. Such parameters can also specify the type of OTP mechanism to be utilized. A second site can, independently, establish an OTP mechanism with the mobile device. For efficiency, the first server can provide an identity token which provides the mobile device's public key in a trusted manner, enabling more efficient generation of the shared secret with the second server.10-14-2010
20110202759CERTIFICATE REMOTING AND RECOVERY - Certificate remoting and recovery may be provided. A computer may identify required security certificates and determine whether at least one required security certificate is not available. If the certificate is not available, the computer may identify a peer server and request the missing certificate from the peer server. The computer may also be operative to receive certificate management instructions from other computers.08-18-2011
