20100277852DIELECTRIC COATINGS AND USE IN CAPACITORS - A coated substrate product is described comprising a substrate and a dielectric coating material comprising carbon, hydrogen, silicon, and oxygen. According to the method, the substrate is processed by plasma cleaning the surface and then depositing a dielectric coating by a suitable plasma process. The coating may contain one or more layers. The substrate may be a rigid material or a thin film or foil. The coated products of this invention have superior dielectric material properties and utility as substrates for the manufacture of rolled or parallel plate capacitors with high energy densities.11-04-2010
20100327699ENCAPSULATION COATING TO REDUCE PARTICLE SHEDDING - Various embodiments of the present invention relate to an encapsulated ceramic element coated with polymer material applied precisely to the element edges that are exposed during dicing. Methods of applying the polymer, as well as specific polymers that are particularly useful are disclosed. For example, the polymer material may be applied using precise application methods such as ink-jet printing to direct-write the material precisely where specifically desired. Another method described in the use of photolithographic methods. Additionally, the inventors have identified polyimide as a particularly useful polymer material in connection with certain aspects.12-30-2010

20090059343Electro-Optical Tunable Birefringent Filter - An electrically tunable Lyot type filter is a Lyot that include one or more filter elements. Each filter element may have a planar, solid crystal comprised of a material that exhibits birefringence and is electro-optically active. Transparent electrodes may be coated on each face of the crystal. An input linear light polarizer may be located on one side of the crystal and oriented at 45 degrees to the optical axis of the birefringent crystal. An output linear light polarizer may be located on the other side of the crystal and oriented at −45 degrees with respect to the optical axis of the birefringent crystal. When an electric voltage is applied between the electrodes, the retardation of the crystal changes and so does the spectral transmission of the optical filter.03-05-2009

20090178019System and Method for Multi-Level Security Filtering of Model Representations - A system and method for multi-level security filtering of model representations. Elements of an architecture and systems engineering model have associated security characteristics identifying the required level of security that a user must have in order to be able to obtain access to information about that element of the model. Based on these security characteristics and the security level of a user attempting to access the model, the content of the model is modified such that elements that are not accessible by a user having that security level are obscured or not visible to the user. The other elements of the model which are accessible by the user based on his/her security level are modified in the modified model so as to not provide information that would disclose the nature, character, or in some cases even the presence, of the elements that are not accessible by the user based on his/her security level.07-09-2009

20090057316Coil nut - An electrical enclosure includes an electrical box and a cover mounted onto the electrical box. A 3/8-7 lag bolt extends through the cover and engages a coil nut for securing the cover to the electrical box or underground enclosure. The coil nut includes a body having two ends with an aperture therebetween. The aperture has a continuous internal thread formed between the first and second ends. The size of the continuous internal thread is seven individual threads per inch such that the distance, or pitch, between first and second centers of first and second threads, respectively is 0.143 inches. The pitch and the diameter determine the seven threads per inch size of the continuous thread by accounting for the minor diameter and the major diameter of the nut.03-05-2009
