20080290638Airbag arrangement - An airbag arrangement for a vehicle occupant restraint system includes an inflatable airbag having at least one outflow opening through which gas can flow out of the airbag. The airbag arrangement also includes a stretchable element including a covering structure for adjustably covering a portion of the outflow opening. The covering structure moves relative to the outflow opening when the stretchable element is stretched. The airbag arrangement also includes a fastener for fastening the stretchable element to the airbag so the stretchable element stretches when the airbag inflates and the covering structure moves relative to the outflow opening changing the size of the covered portion of the outflow opening.11-27-2008
20110127756METHOD AND DEVICE FOR FOLDING AN AIRBAG FOR AN AIRBAG MODULE - A method for folding an airbag for an airbag module in which the airbag is disposed on a support is provided. At least one piling element for folding the airbag is provided next to the exterior edge of the airbag disposed on the support. The airbag is folded together using the at least one piling element in that the piling element is moved along the support in the direction toward the interior of the airbag disposed on the support. A retainer protrudes from the at least one piling element and moving together with the piling element during the movement thereof and reaching over or under an edge area of the airbag. The at least one retainer acts on an edge area of the airbag in such a way that an undercut is formed in the airbag through the effect of the retainer.06-02-2011

20090027815Protective Device Having a Circuit Breaker, in Particular a Low-Voltage Circuit Breaker - A protective device is disclosed having a circuit breaker for an electrical connection between a transformer and a load, wherein an overcurrent device is arranged between the transformer and the load. The overcurrent device has first magnetoelectric transducers arranged at each phase conductor and the neutral conductor, wherein the overcurrent device uses the transducer currents to in each case establish the presence of a first ground-fault current, and wherein the circuit breaker has a switching device, which interrupts at least the phase conductors between the transformer and the load in the event of the presence of a first ground-fault current (unrestricted earth fault). In order to also be able to determine the ground fault current between the transformer and the circuit breaker, at least one embodiment of the invention proposes providing in each case second magnetoelectric transducers at each phase conductor, the neutral conductor and a star-point conductor which is connected to the star point, using the transducer currents of the second transducer in each case to determine the presence of a second ground-fault current (restricted earth fault), and forming a signal for disconnecting the transformer in the event of the presence of a second ground-fault current.01-29-2009
20100097731METHOD FOR THE AUTOMATIC ADJUSTMENT OF A PROTECTIVE DEVICE HAVING AN EXCESS-CURRENT RELEASE, PARTICULARLY A LOW-VOLTAGE CIRCUIT BREAKER - One embodiment of the present invention discloses a method for the automatic adjustment of a protective device having an excess-current release, particularly a low-voltage circuit breaker, which includes an asynchronous motor as a load, said motor requiring protection from overload, and also protects the energy distribution system from a short circuit, wherein at least one release time Tp is to be set as a parameter on the excess-current release, the time ensuring that thermal overload of the asynchronous motor does not occur. In order to enable an automatic adjustment of the excess-current release, the invention proposes that the integral of the square of the motor current over the time be determined based on the temporal current progression of the asynchronous motor at a given load, particularly at nominal load, after connecting or reversing, and that from the integral the trigger time of the excess-current release is derived, in that the integral corresponding to the heating of the asynchronous motor is placed in relation to a predetermined multiple of the square of the nominal current, wherein the motor current progression includes at least the starting current, the transition, and the self-adjusting motor nominal current.04-22-2010

20080310803Fibre Optic Ribbon with Several Individual Optical Fibres and Method for Production Thereof - A fibre optic ribbon has several individual optical fibres, provided, for example, for application of the ribbon conductor as flex sensor trip, with surface-treated partial regions in which individual optical fibres can be provided. The individual fibres are arranged in a support strip with a space between, such that a treatment of the individual fibres, which permits a particularly simple execution of the surface treatment. The individual fibres are treated with removal of the support strip in the partial regions and finally the support strip is provided with a sleeve. Additional passive optical fibres can be inserted in the spaces for protection of the individual fibres during the surface treatment which give additional protection to the individual fibres.12-18-2008
20090230578Method for production of a band with several parallel optical fibers - In a method for the production of optical bands with several optical fibers, the surface of the optic fibers in said bands is treated such as to increase the optical damping in sections of the optic fibers. The generated damping may be reliably adjusted, whereby during (or after) the processing of the surfaces a measuring light is introduced into the fiber optic and the light output at the other end of the band is measured by means of a sensor such as a CCD camera. Possible production errors can thus be compensated for during the production process, for example, by an increased process time for the optic fiber. Optical sensor bands can be produced by the above method for application in the bumpers of motor vehicles as recognition sensors for the impact of a pedestrian. Other applications in which the bending of a sensor band is to be determined by optical means are also envisaged.09-17-2009
20100195950Optical Sensor Fiber Having Zone Which is Sensitive to Bending, Sensor Having Such Sensor Fiber, and Method for Producing - An untreated fiber section in an optical sensor fiber has a zone which is framed by surface-treated fiber sections, thus making it possible to determine, by metrology, a mixture of light modes in the untreated fiber section that depends on bending. This advantageously makes it possible to measure the bending in the optical sensor fiber in a very accurate manner. The optical sensor fiber may be used in sensor having a laser diode and a photodiode.08-05-2010

20090255368Torsional Vibration Damper - A torsional vibration damper is described for damping torsional vibrations of a shaft, in particular, of the crankshaft of a reciprocating engine, having a housing which is connected to the shaft and has a closed, annular receiving chamber for receiving a flywheel ring and a highly viscous fluid, wherein the flywheel ring is coupled to the housing via spring elements. Here, the characteristic is determined firstly by the shearing forces of the highly viscous fluid, in particular, the silicone oil, in the gap spaces and secondly by the spring characteristic or rigidity of the resilient supporting ring. The flywheel ring is mounted circumferentially on an elastic supporting ring, which is connected to the housing. Alternatively, a torsional vibration damper may have the flywheel ring mounted on the inside on a rotationally elastic axial bearing.10-15-2009
