20110069749NONLINEAR EQUALIZER TO CORRECT FOR MEMORY EFFECTS OF A TRANSMITTER - Techniques for correcting for memory effects of a transmitter are described. In an exemplary design, a receiver obtains input samples including a desired signal transmitted by a transmitter having memory effects. The receiver performs nonlinear equalization on the input samples to obtain first equalized samples, performs linear equalization on the input samples to obtain second equalized samples, and determines output samples based on the first and second equalized samples. The nonlinear equalization corrects for the memory effects and nonlinearities of the transmitter and possibly nonlinearities and memory effects of the receiver. The receiver may jointly determine coefficients for both linear and nonlinear equalization based on an adaptive algorithm. The receiver processes (e.g., demodulates and decodes) the output samples to recover data sent in the desired signal by the transmitter.03-24-2011

20120021707APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR ADJUSTMENT OF TRANSMITTER POWER IN A SYSTEM - Certain aspects of the present disclosure propose methods for determining power level of one or more transmitters based on a power level of a primary transmitter when the transmitters are located in close proximity of each other. The power levels may be determined such that a combined power of all the transmitters is compliant with regulatory radio frequency (RF) safety requirements. For certain aspects, power level of the lower priority transmitters may be determined utilizing one or more look-up tables. For another aspect, power level of the lower priority transmitters may be calculated using an algorithm based on the power level of the priority transmitter. In aspects, the power level of lower priority transmitters and the time duration for which the transmitters are active may be selected dynamically so that the time averaged power of the transmitters for a defined period of time falls below the RF exposure limit.01-26-2012

20080214243COMMUNICATION DEVICE WITH DIVERSITY ANTENNA - A method and apparatus is disclosed for improving signal reception in a wireless communication device by selectively processing one of two or more signals received over two or more antennas that are configured at least partially orthogonal. In one embodiment, the signal source selection is based on comparison of a signal error rate to a threshold value. Error rates in excess of the threshold value may initiate a switching apparatus to selectively enable signal reception from a different antenna to improve the error rate. In one embodiment, amplifiers are located between the switching apparatus and the two or more antennas to thereby reduce noise. In an alternative embodiment control signals selectively enable and disable the amplifiers to control signal reception.09-04-2008
