Method for Avoiding Collision - The present invention relates to a method for avoiding a collision between a vehicle and another traffic participant. According to the inventive method, a cell phone carried by the traffic participant sends a signal including a position of the traffic participant. A processing unit processes the signal including the position of the traffic participant for a position or evaluation history. The processing unit determines an estimation of a future position of the traffic participant on the basis of the position or evaluation history. The processing unit evaluates a likelihood of a collision between the vehicle and the traffic participant on the basis of the estimated future position of the traffic participant and an estimation of a future position of the vehicle. An acceleration of the traffic participant is sensed by an acceleration sensor of the cell phone. This acceleration sensor is multifunctionally used by using the sensor also for a manipulation of the operating state of the cell phone by moving the cell phone. An action for avoiding a collision is automatically initiated in case that a distance of the future position of the traffic participant and the vehicle is smaller than a safety distance. According to the invention, the safety distance depends on the acceleration which is sensed by the acceleration sensor of the cell phone. | 09-01-2011

AUTOMATED THROUGHPUT CONTROL SYSTEM AND METHOD OF OPERATING THE SAME - An automated throughput control system and method is provided. By gathering tool specific information of a plurality of process tools on entity level, appropriate throughput related performance characteristics may be calculated with high statistical significance during moderately short time intervals. Moreover, the performance characteristics obtained from tool information may be compared to reference data, for instance provided by dynamic simulation calculations, to identify high, as well as low, performing equipment on the basis of standard process control mechanisms. | 11-26-2009

MZB1, A NOVEL B CELL FACTOR, AND USES THEREOF - The marginal zone (MZ) and B1 subsets of B cells, which differ from conventional follicular (FO) B cells both developmentally and functionally, are involved in early responses to infectious pathogens and the production of self-reactive antibodies. A novel gene, mzb1, is expressed at high levels in MZ and B1 B cells but at low level, if at all, in FOB cells. MZB1 is involved in the regulation of proliferation, BCR-mediated signal transduction, and antibody production in B cells. Inhibitors, activators and enhancers of MZB1 expression or activity can be used as immune modulators for research and therapeutic purposes. | 06-02-2011

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR A SAUSAGE-CASING-SENSITIVE DIVISION OF STUFFED SAUSAGE STRANDS - An apparatus for a sausage-casing-sensitive division of stuffed sausage strands, having at least one pair of dividing elements for dividing the stuffed sausage strand and at least two guide elements between which the stuffed sausage strand is conveyed in the conveying direction. The distance between the guide elements can be adjusted in dependence upon the sausage caliber. | 07-29-2010
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR PARTING SAUSAGE CHAINS - A method and a device for separating a sausage chain into single sausages, where filled, portioned sausages are initially transported with a first transport device and with a second transport device arranged behind the first transport device in the transport direction T. The portioning point between two consecutively arranged sausages is enlarged due to the transport speed of the second transport device being faster at least intermittently than the transport speed of the first transport device. The sausage chain is then parted at the portioning point in the second transport device. | 09-15-2011

METHOD FOR PRODUCING A CYLINDRICAL OPTICAL COMPONENT OF QUARTZ GLASS AND OPTICALLY ACTIVE COMPONENT OBTAINED BY SAID METHOD - Cylindrical optical components of quartz glass are known, which have an inner zone made of an inner zone glass, which extends in the direction of the longitudinal axis and is surrounded by a jacket zone made of a jacket zone glass, the average pt wall thickness thereof varying at least over a part of its length in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the component. The aim of the invention is to provide a method that allows a simple and cost-effective production of such an optical component from quartz glass. A method is proposed according to the invention, comprising the following method steps: (a) providing a first parison made of an inner zone glass, which has a first contact surface on the end face, said contact surface having a conical external contour; (b) providing a second parison from the jacket zone glass; (c) embedding the contact surface with a conical external contour into the jacket zone glass and welding the contact surface to the jacket zone glass, thereby forming a composite parison which has a cone-shaped inner zone area of inner zone glass in a contact area, said inner zone area being surrounded by a jacket zone having the shape of an inner cone; and (d) elongation of the composite parison to form the optical component or a preproduct of the component. | 11-10-2011

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ANALYZING AND TRANSFORMING AN APPLICATION FROM A SOURCE INSTALLATION TO A TARGET INSTALLATION - The present application is directed towards systems and methods for analyzing and transforming an application from a source installation to a target installation. Customized functions, objects, databases, and code of the source installation may be analyzed in accordance with analysis rules to create a meta-model representative of the elements of the customized elements and their relationships with each other and objects of the source installation. Responsive to transformation rules, the meta-model may be modified to create a transformed meta-model representative of the elements and their relationships with each other and objects of the target installation. The transformations may then be applied to the customized functions, objects, databases, and code of the source installation to convert them into transformed functions, objects, databases, and code, compatible with the target installation. | 03-31-2011
