20110018524 | System and Method for Nondestructive Detection of Electrical Sensors and Cables - A system and method for noninvasive and nondestructive identification of electrical sensors and cables in multi-channel data acquisition (DAQ) systems includes a probe comprising a slotted, wound toroid in series with a blocking capacitor connected to, and powered by, a frequency generator. The frequency generator is tuned to output a test signal set at a multiple harmonic frequency of the DAQ system carrier or scanner frequency. This test signal is then induced into the electrical sensor cable by placing the cable into the toroid slot, whereby the sensor cable provides a path for the test signal to combine with the DAQ system operating frequency so that the resultant combined signal is displayed on the DAQ system monitor. In this way the specific sensor and cable may be identified to avoid the normal procedure of disconnecting or shorting the sensor cables. | 01-27-2011 |

20110265128 | METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PROVIDING BI-DIRECTIONAL DATA SERVICES AND LIVE TELEVISION PROGRAMMING TO MOBILE PLATFORMS - A system for bi-directional data content transfer between a plurality of mobile platforms, such as aircraft or cruise ships, and a ground-based control segment. The system includes the ground-based control segment, a space segment and a mobile system disposed on each mobile platform. The ground-based control segment includes an antenna which is used to transmit encoded RF signals representative of data content to the space segment. The space segment includes a plurality of satellite transponders, with one of the transponders being designated by the ground-based control segment to transpond the encoded RF signals to the mobile system. The receive antenna receives the encoded RF signals from the satellite transponder, which are thereafter decoded, demodulated, D/A converted by a communications subsystem and transmitted to a server. The server filters off that data content not requested by any occupants on the mobile system. A local area network (LAN) receives the remaining data content and provides same to individual users on the mobile platform in accordance with previously submitted programming requests or data input by the users at access stations associated independently with each user. The transmit antenna is used to transmit data content from laptop computers, PDAs or other user electronic devices coupled to the access stations back to the designated satellite transponder. The satellite transponder then transponds the data back to the antenna of the ground-based control segment. | 10-27-2011 |

The tissue engaging end has a vacuum sleeve enabling suction to be selectably applied at the tissue engaging end to capture tissue through an opening in the vacuum sleeve. Two needles are provided which extend through the shaft of the suturing instrument. Each needle is separately actuated into a gap in the instrument's tip, through tissue suctioned into the opening of the vacuum sleeve and into a ferrule at each end of a loop of suture. The system further includes a suture securing instrument having a partially flexible shaft locatable through the accessory tube, and a distal end coupled to the shaft. After removal of the suturing instrument from the accessory tube, a loop of suture extends through the tissue and the accessory tube, the suture securing instrument receives the free ends of the loop of suture at its distal end through a sleeve member, and the suture securing instrument is then inserted through the accessory tube to the location of the suture in the tissue. The suture securing instrument crimps the sleeve member and cuts the free ends of the suture to secure the suture closed. The suturing instrument and suture securing instrument are passed through the accessory tube without removal of the endoscope from the patient. The endoscope provides viewing by an operator of the engaging end of the suturing instrument for selecting placement of the suture through tissue, and of the distal end of the suture securing instrument to secure the suture closed. | 12-30-2010 |

20140108293 | SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR TRADING, TRACKING, AND MANAGING CONFIGURABLE PORTFOLIO BASKETS - A system and method for establishing, tracking, and managing a user-configurable portfolio basket is provided. The system provides a plurality of pre-determined, user-selectable portfolio baskets, wherein said portfolio baskets include a plurality of products of at least one asset class. The user then selects one of the portfolio baskets, and sets a lower delta, an upper delta, and a time selection to be associated with said basket. These are then used by the system to determine trading instruments for each of the plurality of products in the basket. The trades represented by the instruments in the basket are then reviewed to confirm the authorization of the user to trade them and, if so, the trade is placed as a basket. Further, the performance of the instruments is tracked as a basket and the user may later add instruments to or sell instruments from the portfolio basket. | 04-17-2014 |

20150066796 | System and Method for Providing Information to a Recipient of a Physical Mail Object - A system and method is provided for transmitting information over a wide area network, such as the Internet, in response to receiving at least a portion of mail data. In one embodiment of the present invention, information is stored in a memory. Mail data is then affixed to a mail object. The mail object is then manually delivered to a recipient. The mail data is then provided to a reception device. The reception device then uses the mail data to retrieve the information from a mail device in communication with the memory. In a preferred embodiment, the mail data includes data corresponding to the recipient of the mail object, and the information includes data that identifies the recipient of the mail object and data that corresponds to a content of the mail object. | 03-05-2015 |
20150071602 | System And Method For Time Shifting At Least A Portion Of A Program - A system and method is provided for time shifting a video program. In one embodiment of the present invention, a receiver, which may be configured to function as both a receiver and a DVR, is configured to receive a video program having both primary and secondary portions. The receiving device is further configured to play both portions of the video program if the program is being watched (a) during a first period of time or (b) during a second period of time and a user desires to watch both portions, and to play only the primary portions if the program is being watched during the second period of time and the user desires to watch only the primary portions. 20090287344 | System and method for mail verification - A system and method is provided for transmitting mail verification data over a wide area network, such as the Internet, in response to receiving and authenticating at least a portion of mail identification (ID) data. In one embodiment of the present invention, a mail verification application is adapted to store at least a verifying portion (e.g., an identifiable code portion, a shipping portion, a recipient portion, etc.) of mail ID data in memory. The mail ID data is then affixed to a mail object. The mail object is then manually delivered to a recipient. At least an authenticating portion of the mail ID data is then provided to a reception device. The reception device, which communicates with the mail ID device over a wide area network, transmits at least the authenticating portion of the mail ID data to the mail verification application operating on the mail ID device. The mail verification application then compares the authenticating portion of the mail ID data with the verifying portion stored in memory. If the authenticating portion of the mail ID data is authenticated, mail verification data is sent to the reception device. In one embodiment of the present invention, at least a portion of the mail verification data includes authenticating data, securing data, sender data, recipient data, mail-content data, downloadable-product data, sender-web-page data, and/or third-party-web-page data. | 11-19-2009 |

20120106920 | System And Method For Adding Auxiliary Data To Time-Shifted Data - A system and method is provided for adding auxiliary data to time-shifted data. In one embodiment, data is transmitted from a data source to a receiver via a data distribution means. The receiver, which may be configured to function as both a receiver and a DVR, is configured to add auxiliary data to time-shifted data. The receiving device is configured to acquire auxiliary data at the time the time-shifted data is being played, and to add the auxiliary data to the time-shifted data so that both the time-shifted data and the auxiliary data are displayed to a user on a display. By acquiring auxiliary data at (or around) the time the time-shifted data is being played, it is more likely that the auxiliary data has value to the user, thereby increasing the value of the time-shifted data to the content owner, the content provider and advertisers. | 05-03-2012 |
