20120078530METHOD FOR DETERMINING RECEPTOR-LIGAND PAIRS - The present invention provides a method of determining related proteins, the method comprising obtaining sequences of interest, wherein the sequences are amino acid sequences for proteins or nucleotide sequences encoding proteins; comparing segments of each sequence of interest with a database of amino acid or nucleotide sequences; generating a profile for each sequence of interest comprising a list of all sequences from the database of sequences that have segments corresponding to the segments of each sequence of interest; and comparing the database sequences appearing in the profile of each sequence of interest to the database sequences appearing in the profile of every other sequence of interest, wherein similar profiles indicate that the sequences of interest correspond to related proteins while dissimilar profiles indicate that the sequences of interest do not correspond to related proteins, wherein profiles are similar if there is at least a 30% overlap between the database sequences appearing in the profiles of the sequences of interest.03-29-2012

20100146765IV Catheter with In-Line Valve and Methods Related Thereto - Featured is a vascular access device such as an IV catheter device including a housing, a tubular member and a seal member, and a securing mechanism. The housing includes a proximal and distal portion and a chamber that extends between the proximal and distal portions. The tubular member is coupled to the housing distal portion so it is fluidly coupled to the chamber. The seal member is disposed within the chamber and the securing mechanism secures the seal member distal end to the housing proximal portion so the seal member is sealingly and compressibly retained between a chamber proximal end and the securing mechanism. Such a seal member also is constituted so a portion of the seal member moves axially responsive to an axial force applied to the proximal end.06-17-2010
20110282280LOCKING CLIP WITH TRIGGER BUSHING - A safety shield incorporating a locking clip to prevent inadvertent sticks or punctures by a needle is provided. The needle can be a needle cannula or other piercing member, disposed in a sliding orientation in the safety shield, such that the needle slides within the locking clip between an aperture at a proximal end of the locking clip and a trigger hole at a distal end of the clip. Upon withdrawal of the needle after use, a binding orientation is triggered when the needle tip is withdrawn from the trigger hole. As further protection to the bi-directional lock afforded by the binding orientation, the needle is provided with a safety stop to prevent movement of the needle tip through the aperture. In other aspects, the safety shield includes a trigger bushing, in which the needle cannula is slidably received, that is sized larger than the aperture.11-17-2011

20090131870I.V. CATHETER ASSEMBLY AND NEEDLE SAFETY DEVICE - An I.V. catheter assembly and needle safety device are disclosed which allow for the safe removal of a needle from a catheter assembly. The safety device includes a locking assembly which includes lock housing a rotatable locking member and a locking clip. The needle and the locking member are configured such that withdrawal of the needle from the catheter assembly effects rotation of the locking member. The locking clip is positioned and configured to obstruct rotation of the locking member after the needle has been retracted within the housing to obstruct re-advancement of the needle.05-21-2009
20100081996Transparent Catheter Securement System - A securement device for securing a catheter to a patient is provided. The securement device includes a base including a support member and at least one securement arm extending away from the support member. The support member defines a cradle portion, the cradle portion of the support member being configured to receive at least a portion of a catheter. The at least one securement arm being movable over the cradle portion to a position to secure a catheter within the cradle portion. The securement device further includes a cover member configured to be received over the base and dimensioned to secure the base to a patient.04-01-2010
20100331726Medical Device with Incorporated Disinfecting Wipe and Method of Using Same - A medical device including a barrel having an open first end and capable of supporting a needle at a second end of the barrel is provided and includes a lid releasably adhered to and overlying the open first end of the barrel in a fluid tight manner; and a pad secured to a surface of the lid such that the pad is disposed within a cavity of the barrel when the lid is adhered to the barrel, wherein the pad comprises a disinfecting solution.12-30-2010
20110060288Flashback Chamber Visual Enhancement - Featured is a medical infusion device for vascular access with enhanced flashback visualization that includes a hub assembly having a flashback chamber. The hub assembly includes a proximal portion, a distal portion and a substantially transparent window section intermediate the proximal portion and distal portion. A needle is coupled to the flashback chamber so that fluid flows through the lumen of the needle into the flashback chamber after the needle is inserted into a blood vessel. A contrasting member is disposed on at least a portion of the hub assembly, so that when blood enters the flashback chamber, the contrasting member provides a high-contrast background when viewed through the window section.03-10-2011
20110224627I.V. The locking clip is positioned and configured to obstruct rotation of the locking member after the needle has been retracted within the housing to obstruct re-advancement of the needle.09-15-2011
