METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR FILMING - This invention concerns a method of filming a subjected to be projected as a Pepper's Ghost image. The method may comprise filming a subject under a lighting arrangement having one or more front lights for illuminating a front of a subject and one or more backlights. The lights may be controlled such that the total brightness of the one or more front lights, as measured of the subject, is less than or approximately the same as the total brightness of the one or more backlights, as measured at the subject. The subject may be located directly above one or more floor lights such the subject is illuminated from below by the one or more floor lights. The lights may comprise one or more LEDs. A drop-off distance of the front lights may be less than a distance between the front lights and a backscreen. The invention further concerns a lighting control system comprising an input device for receiving inputs on characteristics of the subject to be filmed and a controller arranged to determine from the inputs a required configuration for the lamps and send control signals to at least one of the lamps to cause the lamps to adjust to the required configuration. The lighting system may comprise a controller connected to a data link providing data on a lighting environment at a location where the film of the subject is being projected as a Pepper's Ghost image, the controller controlling the lamps to adjust configuration during filming in response to data on changes in the lighting environment. | 06-23-2011

Investment Management Tool - The following describes an investment management tool based on dynamically linked and re-configurable portfolio building blocks. These building blocks are graphical structural elements of an investment portfolio that represent either individual investments or the hierarchical groupings of individual investments in a multi-tiered investment structure. The portfolio building blocks provide access to a variety of identity/position specific investment tools and they can be individually programmed and dynamically linked to form a highly flexible, hierarchical portfolio management system. The portfolio building blocks when created, structured and linked into an operational portfolio provide an easily manipulated portfolio investment and information management toolkit that dramatically clarifies and simplifies the process with which individual investors can create and manage a portfolio of equities in an investment account. | 06-25-2009

Gallery of Ideas - Systems and methods for using musical data are provided. In one implementation, a method is provided that includes receiving input selecting a musical phrase including musical data. A copy of the musical phrase is created and persistently stored. An input is received selecting a destination location in a musical score. The copy of the persistently stored musical phrase is placed into the musical score at the selected location. | 12-10-2009
Musical Sound Identification - Systems and methods for identifying musical sounds are provided. In one implementation, a method includes receiving a collection of sound identifiers. Each sound identifier in the collection identifies a sound. Each sound identifier is associated with a corresponding audio representation. The collection of sound identifiers is used to construct a hierarchy of sound identifiers where each sound identifier appears only once in the hierarchy of sound identifiers. The hierarchy of sound identifiers is arranged according to a musical similarity between the sounds identified by the collection of sound identifiers. A selection of a first sound identifier is received. The first audio representation corresponding to the first sound identified by the first sound identifier is unavailable. The second sound identifier identifies a second sound that is musically similar to the first sound identified by the first sound identifier. An available second audio representation corresponding to a second sound identifier is provided. | 12-10-2009

Method of producing conjugate vaccines - The present invention relates to a method of production of a hydrazide modified sugar comprising a step of reacting a sugar with a hydrazide in a reaction solvent at a pH of between 3 and 5.5, wherein the solvent comprises an aqueous based solvent and an optional polar organic co-solvent. A further aspect of the invention relates to a method of production of a polysaccharide epitope carrier protein conjugate comprising the steps of: (a) reacting a polysaccharide epitope with a hydrazide to form a hydrazide modified polysaccharide epitope; (b) reacting the hydrazide modified polysaccharide epitope with a linker that has been pre-coupled to a carrier protein. Another aspect of the invention relates to a method of production of a sugar-dihydrazide-aldehyde adduct comprising the steps of: (a) producing a hydrazide modified sugar using a method according to the invention, wherein the hydrazide modified sugar includes a further unreacted hydrazide moiety; and (b) reacting the further hydrazide moiety with the aldehyde functionality of a linker group. | 09-04-2008
