20100186772 | METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR DISHWASHER OPERATION - A method, and corresponding system, for dishwasher operation including receiving an operation setting at a dishwasher to be performed by the dishwasher, where the dishwasher is configured to receive an input of electrical power at a defined operating voltage and frequency; and causing an operation of the dishwasher based on the operation setting by causing an inverter of the dishwasher to operate a pump motor of the dishwasher at an electrical power condition different from the defined operating voltage and frequency received at the dishwasher, where the electrical power condition at the pump motor causes the dishwasher to operate in accordance with a quiet dishwashing cycle, a high water pressure dishwashing cycle, a constant mass flow operation, or a minimum water use operation. | 07-29-2010 |
20120305546 | INDUCTION COOKTOP PAN SENSING - An induction heating system includes a heating coil operable to inductively heat a load with a magnetic field, a variable high frequency power source supplying a high frequency current to the heating coil, a detector for detecting a current through the coil and providing a current signal representative of the current, a controller for controlling the frequency of the current to the heating coil and responsive to the current signal from the detector to capture and analyze a current signature, the controller being operative to sweep a current operating frequency across an operating frequency spectrum, and to combine a sum of the current signature with a two-sample swing of the current signature, and determine a presence of a load on the heating coil and control the frequency of the current to the coil based on a signal resulting from the combined signal. | 12-06-2012 |
20140072461 | LINEAR COMPRESSOR - A linear compressor is provided. The linear compressor includes an electro-magnetic spring and a casing that defines a chamber. A piston is received within the chamber of the casing. The electro-magnetic spring can apply a non-linear force to the piston such that a total spring force applied to the piston during a compression stroke is substantially linear. | 03-13-2014 |
20140072462 | LINEAR COMPRESSOR - A linear compressor is provided. The linear compressor includes a casing that defines a chamber and a piston slidably received within the chamber of the casing. A driving coil is configured for selectively urging the piston to slide within the chamber of the casing. An electro-magnetic spring is configured for urging the piston towards a default position when the piston is positioned away from the default position. The electro-magnetic spring can permit the linear compressor to operate at a resonant condition. | 03-13-2014 |

20110185513 | APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR DETECTING UNBALANCED LOADS IN A WASHING MACHINE - An apparatus and techniques for detecting unbalanced load in a washing machine are provided. A clothes basket containing a load of clothing and rotatable about an axis is accelerated. As the clothes basket passes a first predetermined rotational speed, one of power and torque applied to the clothes basket is limited. It is determined whether the clothes basket accelerates from the first predetermined to a second predetermined rotational speed within a predetermined time. Failure to reach the second predetermined rotational speed within the predetermined time signifies an out-of-balance condition as to the load of clothing. No resonance of the machine lies between the first and second predetermined rotational speeds. In another aspect, a similar technique can be employed, with or without limiting power or torque, wherein a resonance does lie between the first and second predetermined rotational speeds. | 08-04-2011 |

20120111065 | WASHING MACHINE WITH IMPROVED BRAKING METHOD - A method of braking a washing machine from an operational speed to a zero speed is provided (as well as a washing machine incorporating the method) for a washing machine driven by one of a synchronous or asynchronous motor. Upon receipt of a stop signal, collapsing the motor rotating magnetic fields are collapsed for a predefined time period. After the predefined time period, DC braking voltage is applied to the motor stator windings at a controlled ramp-up rate to a fixed amplitude to generate a controlled ramped braking torque on the motor. The braking torque is applied until the motor is stopped. | 05-10-2012 |
20120312804 | AUDIBLE NOISE MANIPULATION FOR INDUCTION COOKTOP - A method for operating an induction cooktop having multiple induction heating coils includes monitoring a characteristic of the heating coils indicative of audible noise generated by simultaneous operation of multiple induction heating coils. Upon indication of audible noise from the monitored characteristic, an operating characteristic of at least one of the induction heating coils is varied so as to change the audible noise into a pre-defined, stored audible noise pattern that is desirous to a consumer or user of the cooktop. | 12-13-2012 |
