20080309313Systems and methods for providing device-to-device handshaking through a power supply signal - Handshaking circuits are provided in a communications cable and in a device operable to be mated with the communications cable. Before a device can utilize the power supply signal of such a communications channel, the two handshaking circuits must sufficiently identify one another over a power supply signal with a decreased voltage. The decreased voltage allows for a cable plug to be provided with a safe, protected power that cannot cause harm to a human. The decreased voltage also reduces the chance that a device can receive a primary power supply signal from the cable before the device sufficiently identifies itself. Accordingly, a laptop may be connected to a portable music player, but the voltage of the power supply signal provided by the laptop to the cable may be decreased on-cable until the handshaking circuit of the portable music player sufficiently performs a handshaking operation with a on-cable handshaking circuit.12-18-2008
20100225176SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PROVIDING PROTECTION CIRCUITRY TO SELECTIVELY HANDLE MULTIPLE CABLE-TYPES THROUGH THE SAME PORT - This is generally directed to providing protection circuitry to selectively handle power-providing cables and headset cables that can couple to the same port of an electronic device. In some embodiments, the device can include a Headset Rx chip to communicate with the headset cable and a Power Rx chip to communicate with the power-providing cable. As the Headset Rx chip and the Power Rx chip can be coupled to the same contact of the device's port, these chips may prevent one another from operating correctly or may damage one another. Accordingly, in some embodiments, it can be determined whether a headset cable or a power-providing cable is coupled to the device. When a headset cable is coupled to the device, the protection circuitry can disconnect the Power Rx chip. Similarly, when a power-providing cable is coupled to the device, the protection circuitry can disconnect the Headset Rx chip.09-09-2010

20100254212Method for resonant-vibratory mixing - A method for mixing fluids and/or solids in a manner that can be varied from maintaining the integrity of fragile molecular and biological materials in the mixing vessel to homogenizing heavy aggregate material by supplying large amounts of energy. Variation in the manner of mixing is accomplished using an electronic controller to generate signals to control the frequency and amplitude of the motor(s), which drive an unbalanced shaft assembly to produce a linear vibratory motion. The motor may be a stepper motor, a linear motor or a DC continuous motor. By placing a sensor on the mixing vessel platform to provide feedback control of the mixing motor, the characteristics of agitation in the fluid or solid can be adjusted to optimize the degree of mixing and produce a high quality mixant.10-07-2010

20090073782SYSTEM, APPARATUS, AND METHOD TO INCREASE READ AND WRITE STABILITY OF SCALED SRAM MEMORY CELLS - Circuits, systems, and methods are disclosed for SRAM memories. An SRAM includes memory cells wherein read stability and write stability can be modified by adjusting a well bias signal operably coupled to an N-well of the memory cell. The well bias signal is generated at VDD or at a bias offset from VDD for both the read and the write operations. The memory cells may be adjusted for operation by designing the memory device to be stable relative to local parameter variations with a well bias substantially equal to VDD. The memory cells are then tested for stable read operations and stable write operations. If the write operations are unstable or the read operations are unstable, the well bias is modified and the memory cells are tested again.03-19-2009

The needle sheath that covers the needle prior to use may be made of a plastics material that may be clear, or have the same or a different color than that of the needle assembly. The gauge of the needle of a fixed needle syringe could also be ascertained by its color coded needle protective housing.
