20080270952Dynamic sampling of functional simulation to determine whether to perform both functional and timing simulation - A method for simulating a system normally performs functional simulation of the system without performing timing simulation of the system. The method dynamically samples the functional simulation of the system at intervals to determine whether the functional simulation has entered into a new phase. Where the functional simulation has entered into a new phase, the method performs both the functional simulation and the timing simulation of the system for one or more intervals.10-30-2008
20080270959Influencing functional simulation of a system by timing simulation of the system - A method performs functional simulation of a system as influenced by timing simulation of the system. The method performs functional simulation of a system, and periodically performs timing simulation of the system. The functional simulation of the system takes into account the timing simulation of the system that is periodically performed.10-30-2008
20090282234REMOTE CONNECTION BETWEEN INTERMEDIARY DEVICE AND COMPUTING DEVICE VIA CENTRAL AUTHORITY SOFTWARE - Upon an intermediary device on a network being turned on, controlling system software at the intermediary device is booted such that no public network address is ever assigned to the intermediary device. The intermediary device sends a boot message over the network to central authority software running on one or more first computing devices on the network. The central authority software in response sends messages over the network to the intermediary device and to a second computing device on the network to establish a private tunnel with one another. The intermediary device and the second computing device establish the private tunnel with one another over the network. The intermediary device then opens a remote connection to the second computing device through the private tunnel so that peripherals connected to the intermediary device as if they were directly connected to the second computing device.11-12-2009

20100115543Simulcast resolution in content matching systems - An audience measurement system generates signatures of unknown pieces of content viewed by panel members, and generates reference signatures of known pieces of content. The signatures of the unknown pieces of content are stored and transmitted to a central processing site, where they are compared with the reference signatures for their identification. A scanning engine finds matches between the signatures of the unknown and the known contents, and stores matches so as to build “tracking segments”, i.e., strings of matches that indicate a coincidence between the unknown content and one or more known pieces of content for a certain period of time, and associates the unknown content to the known piece of content with the longest tracking segment.05-06-2010
20100131970AUDIENCE MEASUREMENT APPARATUS, SYSTEM AND METHOD - An audience measurement system generates signatures of unknown pieces of content viewed by panel members, and generates multiplexed reference signatures of known pieces of content. The signatures of the unknown pieces of content are stored and transmitted to a central processing site, where they are compared with the reference signatures for their identification. A signature comparator finds matches between the signatures of the unknown and the known contents.05-27-2010
20110093878AUDIENCE MEASUREMENT SYSTEMS, METHODS AND APPARATUS - Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture to determine source information for media content output by a media rendering device operable to output media content from a plurality of different sources are disclosed. An example method disclosed herein comprises detecting media content output by the a media rendering device, the media content having a media variable associated therewith, detecting a plurality of user commands, detecting a change in the media variable associated with the media content output by the media rendering device, selecting, based on a time limit, a user command from the plurality of detected user commands to use with the detected media variable change to determine source information, and providing the detected media variable change and the selected user command to a processor to determine a source of the media content output by the media rendering device.04-21-2011

20090300632WORK REQUEST CONTROL SYSTEM - A work request control system for receiving work requests from input devices provides a priority queuing mechanism for performance of tasks by a finite pool of heterogeneous resources. An input receives work requests from input devices and an attribute mechanism receives the work requests and determines the values of each of multiple attributes for each work request. A queue mechanism calculates using the multiple attributes and by considering each request as a multi-dimensional eigenvector the relative distance of each eigenvector in relation to a reference eigenvector and asserts the work requests in a priority order determined by the relative distance of each eigenvector.12-03-2009

20090202968Systems and Methods for Combining Electronic Educational and Entertainment Media - In accordance with one aspect, electronic visual media is deemed by the user as interruptible or not interruptible. In accordance with another aspect, a timer determines when to interrupt interruptible media. In another aspect, media is interrupted by educational media comprising a question that is subsequently answered by a user. In another aspect, a correct response triggers dismissal of the interrupting question whereas an incorrect answer does not. In another aspect, correctly answering multiple questions in series accumulates time credit that delays further interruption of media.08-13-2009
20100191529Systems And Methods For Managing Multiple Grammars in a Speech Recognition System - Systems and methods are described for a speech system that manages multiple grammars from one or more speech-enabled applications. The speech system includes a speech server that supports different grammars and different types of grammars by exposing several methods to the speech-enabled applications. The speech server supports static grammars that do not change and dynamic grammars that may change after a commit. The speech server provides persistence by supporting persistent grammars that enable a user to issue a command to an application even when the application is not loaded. In such a circumstance, the application is automatically launched and the command is processed. The speech server may enable or disable a grammar in order to limit confusion between grammars. Global and yielding grammars are also supported by the speech server. Global grammars are always active (e.g., “call 9-1-1”) while yielding grammars may be deactivated when an interaction whose grammar requires priority is active.07-29-2010
