Rachet Strap Tightener and Mating Rotary Driven Tool - A rachet strap tightener and a power driven rotary tool are arranged to be operated together for tightening a strap. The body of the power driven rotary tool is arranged to be anchored in mating engagement relative to the body of the rachet strap tightener, in addition to coupling the rotating mating parts of the tool and the strap tightener, such that the torque applied when winding the spindle of the tightener no longer acts to twist the tightener body from the user's hands but rather the torque is anchored directly through the bodies so that winding of the spindle with the power driven tool can be accomplished quickly, efficiently and in a safe manner. | 10-30-2008

Roller For Attaching to an Axle of a Conveying or Storage Device to Aid in the Transport of an Object - A roller for positioning on a member of a conveying or transportation device where the member acts as a stationary axle for the roller includes an outer shell typically constructed from a compressible thermoplastic, rubber or polymeric material and a hollow inner core typically constructed from a rigid thermoplastic or polymeric material. The roller includes a through bore defined by axle engaging ribs where the ribs engage a circumference of the axle substantially perpendicular to an axis of the member such that the roller is rotatable about an axis of the axle. The outer shell is typically molded over the inner rigid shell where the outer shell is of a selected thickness that does not compress over time due to the weight of the boat or watercraft. | 03-04-2010

CURVED LINEAR ARRAY TRANSDUCER, SYSTEM AND METHOD - A focused ultrasound beam is created using a probe having a curved linear array. The curved linear array is asymmetric and two dimensional comprising individual parallel circumferential, linear sub-arrays disposed at a distal end of a probe. A first sub-array is disposed proximate a distal end and a final sub-array is disposed proximate a proximal end with subsequent sub-arrays disposed between the first and final array. In practice, the first sub-array transmits a set of pulses of ultrasound radiation for a period of time then an adjacent array transmits a set of pulses of ultrasound radiation after a lag. The transmissions by each sub-array continue with a lag between each array transmission until the final sub-array transmits a final set of pulses of ultrasound radiation. The pulse is generated by each transmission is steered and focused depending on the phases and amplitudes of the pulses of ultrasound radiation transmitted by the full set of elements in the transmitting sub-arrays. The set of multiple pulses permits interrogating individual voxels in a scanned volume from different directions. | 12-01-2011

SELF-TIGHTENING COVER FOR PUMP - A self-tightening retaining system for securing a closure in position closing an access port of a pump housing. The system includes a retaining cover for obstructing removal of the closure from a bore of the access port. The cover has external threads interengageable with screws threads of the bore. A locking device is configured for being secured to the cover such that the locking device rotates together with the cover. The locking device has a fastener receivable in a hole of the closure and has external threads interengageable with threads of the hole. The threads of the cover and the threads of the fastener are spiraled in opposite directions such that when the cover rotates in a loosening direction, the fastener becomes tightened in the hole of the closure thereby stopping the rotation. | 07-09-2009

DEVICE AND METHOD FOR STORING AND MIXING AT LEAST TWO MATERIALS - In one embodiment, a storing and mixing apparatus is provided and includes a container having a reservoir, a neck, and a seal protrusion extending toward the longitudinal center of the container. The apparatus further includes a cap having a compartment with an off-center funnel part that extends toward an inner surface of the neck and ends in a dispenser opening that engages or disengages with the seal protrusion upon actuation of the cap between a first position and a second position of the dispenser opening relative to the seal protrusion. A method of using such an apparatus is also disclosed. | 07-01-2010

PRODRUGS OF PHOSPHONATE NUCLEOTIDE ANALOGUES - A novel method has led to the identification of novel mixed ester-amidates of PMPA for retroviral or hepadnaviral therapy, including compounds of structure (5a) | 09-18-2008
NUCLEOTIDE ANALOGS - Nucleotide analogs characterized by the presence of an amidate linked amino acid or an ester linked group which is bonded to the phosphorus atom of phosphonate nucleotide analogs are disclosed. The analogs comprise a phosphoamidate or ester bond that is hydrolyzed in vivo to yield a corresponding phosphonate nucleotide analog. Methods and intermediates for their synthesis and use are described. | 06-11-2009

Pre-Filter Particulate Collection Member - A pre-filter cloth is provided as designed and specifically adapted for use with the ShopVac®, Craftsman™, Rigid® or other similar style wet or dry vacuum. The pre-filter cloth is formed as a generally rectangular envelope formed of a polyester woven and/or nonwoven fabric felt having a weight of between 6-16 oz. The rectangular envelope forms two generally parallel planar sides separated by a pleated or other type of expandable edge construction and includes an open end that is releasably closed, preferably with a hook and loop fastener arrangement that seals the open end during use, but allows opening to permit egress of collected contents. One planar side form an entry portal circumscribed by a rigid connection flange capable of allowing securement to the hose inlet connection generally available on the inside sidewall of the canister vacuum. The instant abstract is neither intended to define the invention disclosed in this specification nor intended to limit the scope of the invention in any way. | 12-22-2011
