Provisioning Virtual Resources Using Name Resolution - A data string including a resource identifier and one or more resource attributes is parsed at a name resolution module and provided to a computing resource provisioning system. The computer resource provisioning system provisions a resource that corresponds to the resource identifier and that has the at least one. A handle is returned to provide access to the resource at a client system. | 02-25-2010
Collective Operations in a File System Based Execution Model - A mechanism is provided for group communications using a MULTI-PIPE synthetic file system. A master application creates a multi-pipe synthetic file in the MULTI-PIPE synthetic file system, the master application indicating a multi-pipe operation to be performed. The master application then writes a header-control block of the multi-pipe synthetic file specifying at least one of a multi-pipe synthetic file system name, a message type, a message size, a specific destination, or a specification of the multi-pipe operation. Any other application participating in the group communications then opens the same multi-pipe synthetic file. A MULTI-PIPE file system module then implements the multi-pipe operation as identified by the master application. The master application and the other applications then either read or write operation messages to the multi-pipe synthetic file and the MULTI-PIPE synthetic file system module performs appropriate actions. | 03-08-2012

Composite materials for sports articles and method of manufacturing the composite materials - The present invention relates to forming a laminated composite material that can be used to make sports articles, such as skis, snow boards, skate boards, surf boards, and wave boards and other articles of drastic mechanical properties. First, a plurality of layers of composite materials having fibres therein are assembled into a mould, the layers being arranged in a sandwich construction and super imposed on each other. A vacuum is applied to the mould, and a resin and catalyst mix is injected into the mould so as to evenly saturate, by means of the vacuum being applied to the mould, the layers of composite materials with the resin and catalyst mix. The layers of composite materials are then subjected to heat and pressure until the resin and catalyst mix has cured and imbedded the fibres of the composite materials together. The finished composite may vary in thickness between 4 mm and 30 mm, depending on end use. | 05-17-2012

METHOD AND UNIT FOR THE SEPARATION OF NON-FERROUS METALS AND STAINLESS STEEL IN BULK MATERIAL HANDLING - A method and unit for the separation of non-ferrous, ferrous and non-metal portions in bulk material handling, particularly for the recycling of materials for subsequent use, wherein the method comprises: the application of eddy currents for the separation of portions of non-ferrous and conductive materials that jump with respect to portions of the remaining material stream; the detection of metals in portions of materials by means of an analysis of the metals using electromagnetic sensors, and the separation of said metals by mechanical expulsion means, achieving the separation of metallic material portions, such as stainless steel, and others from the portions of non-metals. The unit comprises a first conveyor belt of the portions and eddy current (Foucault) separators, while a second conveyor belt includes electromagnetic metal sensors and selective expulsion means which are controlled by said electromagnetic metal sensors. | 11-11-2010

Method of Operating a Navigation System to Provide Route Guidance - A method of operating a navigation system to provide a route guidance message for traveling a route is disclosed. A plurality of features visible from a road segment of the route is obtained from a geographic database associated with the navigation system. An importance rating for each of the identified features is determined. The guidance message references the identified feature having a highest determined importance rating. The importance rating considers a permanence or a seasonal dependency of the identified feature. | 03-03-2011
Method of Collecting Information for a Geographic Database for use with a Navigation System - A method of collecting data for a geographic database for use with a navigation system is disclosed. A feature visible from a road segment is identified. A guidance feature point object is defined at a location at the road segment where the identified feature is most visibly prominent. Additionally, an importance rating and a preferred name for the identified feature are determined. Data representing the guidance feature point object, importance rating and the preferred name are stored in the geographic database on a computer readable medium. | 03-03-2011
