20090089827SYSTEM FOR SPECIFIC SCREEN-AREA TARGETING FOR PARENTAL CONTROL VIDEO BLOCKING - There is provided a system and/or method of displaying video content. More specifically, in one embodiment, there is provided a method comprising receiving input regarding a type of potentially objectionable video content (POC) that is to be filtered when displaying video content, receiving a video signal containing an indication of a display location of POC in the video content and a type of POC at that display location, and filtering display of content identified by the indication of the display location of the POC and the type of the POC if the type of POC corresponds to the type of POC that is to be filtered when displaying the video content.04-02-2009
20090089828BROADCAST TELEVISION PARENTAL CONTROL SYSTEM AND METHOD - There is provided a system and/or method of displaying video and/or audio content. An exemplary method comprises receiving input regarding a type of potentially objectionable content that is to be filtered from display of the video content, receiving a video signal containing an indication marking an occurrence of potentially objectionable video content in the video signal and a type of the potentially objectionable video content, and filtering the video signal at the occurrence if the type of the potentially objectionable video content corresponds to the type of potentially objectionable video content that is to be filtered when displaying the video content.04-02-2009
20100118211SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR REMOTE CONTROL OF A TELEVISION WITH A MANUALLY ACTUATABLE ELEMENT - There is provided a system and method for remote control of a television with a manually actuatable control element. More specifically, in one embodiment, there is provided a remote control for a television with a manually actuatable control element. The remote control may comprise a manually actuatable control element configured to generate a signal in response to an activation of the control element by a user, wherein the signal is generated at one of a plurality of different levels based on a characteristic of the activation, and a control system configured to receive the signal and to produce one of a plurality of television commands in response to the signal, wherein the command produced corresponds to the level of the signal.05-13-2010
20100157170SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR OPERATION OF A TELEVISION WITH A REMOTE CONTROL - There is provided a system and method for a television remote control system. More specifically, in one embodiment, there is provided a remote control, a control element configured for vertical movement, horizontal movement and axial movement, and a television configured to activate various television features upon receiving a signal from the remote control indicating an activation direction of the control element, wherein the television is configured to activate a volume control feature when the activation direction is a first or second direction and the television is operating in a viewing mode, and wherein the television is configured to activate a television content selection feature when the activation direction is a third or fourth direction and the television is operating in the viewing mode, wherein the first, second, third, and fourth directions are each different.06-24-2010
20110010738SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SELECTION OF TELEVISION CONTENT USING TAB-BASED SELECTION FEATURES - There is provided a system and method for selection of television content. More specifically, in one embodiment, there is provided an electronic device, comprising a processor that is adapted to receive video data from a plurality of source types and to create an on-screen content selection interface on a display, the on-screen content selection interface including a graphical tab corresponding to each of the plurality of source types of video data.01-13-2011

20080229328COMPUTER PROGRAM PRODUCT FOR DYNAMICALLY OPTIMIZED HANDLING OF MESSAGES RECEIVED FROM A MESSAGE TRANSMISSION BACKBONE BY A DATA PROCESSING SYSTEM NODE - A method, system, and computer program product for handling messages on a message transmission backbone within a distributed data processing system is disclosed. A filter module generates an allowable message types data structure, and stores the allowable message types data structure in a memory. Each entry of the allowable message types data structure includes information for identifying an allowable message type on the basis of one or more message characteristics. A change in a status of a module within a group of loaded programs, which includes multiple data processing software modules, is detected. In response to detecting the change in the status of a module within the group of loaded programs, a corresponding entry within the allowable message types data structure is modified. Then, when messages arrive from the message transmission backbone, a filtering module communicates a message to the group of loaded programs if an item of identifying information within the message meets a criterion of the entries within the allowable message types data structure.09-18-2008
