20090052812Various gusset seals or treatments for reclosable packages - Reclosable gusseted packages or bags have improved resistance to leaking or spilling through the gussets by sealing the gussets together through apertures in the gusset walls, by sealing the zipper flanges together through apertures passing through the gussets in the package or bag, by folding portions of the gussets, or by sewing the gussets shut in areas proximate to the zipper.02-26-2009
20100021093RECLOSABLE FLEXIBLE PACKAGING HAVING HEADER WITH CUSTOMER TAKEAWAY - A package is provided of the type with a tear-away header which is separated from the product contents of the package by a zipper sealed to the interior of the package walls. The space within the header is used to package and an item such as a toy, game card, game token, coupon, or punched foam strip which can be used as a promotional or gift item. In this way, the item packaged within the header is kept separate from the product contents of the package.01-28-2010
20100278457ARCHING ZIPPER AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURE - Zippers are provided for reclosable packages or bags. By selectively co-extruding a first portion of the zipper with a shrinkable or expandable material, and simultaneously co-extruding a second portion of the zipper with a dimensionally stable thermoplastic or similar material, followed by a step of activating the shrinkage or expansion of the shrinkable material, several different shapes of zipper can be achieved. For instance, by co-extruding the shrinkable material to a lower portion of the zipper or co-extruding the expandable material to an upper portion of the zipper, an upwardly arching or convex shape can be achieved. Similarly, by co-extruding the shrinkable material to an upper portion of the zipper or co-extruding the expandable material to a lower portion of the zipper, a downwardly arching or concave shape can be achieved. Similarly, by co-extruding the shrinkable material to inner portions of the zipper or the expandable material to outer portions of the zipper, a self-opening characteristic may be added to the zipper. Additionally, zippers may be placed at inclined positions in a complementary head-to-head configuration in order to eliminate or reduce waste of packaging material during manufacture.11-04-2010
20110083799TIE LAYER BETWEEN A POLYLACTIC ACID FILM AND A POLYETHYLENE ZIPPER OR OTHER COMPONENT - The disclosure relates to the attachment of polyethylene components, such as, but not limited to, zipper profiles for a reclosable package, to film made from polylactic acid. Functionalized polyolefin is laminated or co-extruded onto the polylactic acid and serves as an intermediate or tie layer for the attachment of the polyethylene components thereto.04-14-2011
20110266336SELF-MATING ZIPPER ON CARTON - The present disclosure relates to rigid or semi-rigid cartons with zipper-type reclosable elements, particularly self-mating zippers. The cartons can be formed from blanks which have a self-mating zipper on the inside of the carton. Additionally, the zipper can be attached to a flexible film which is, in turn, attached to the package.11-03-2011
20110283488ZIPPERED SECURITY BAG - A security zipper is provided, which includes a consumer side zipper pair and a product side zipper pair, where each zipper pair is capable of secure mating. Between the zipper pairs is an intermediate flange pair which is layered with an adhesive as well as an adhesive enhancer to securely connect the intermediate flange pair. A slider is provided over the consumer side zipper pair, the product side zipper pair and the intermediate flange pair which mates the zipper pairs and connects the intermediate flanges so that the zipper is securely closed. A bag is also disclosed, which includes the security zipper and a connected product side pouch. In addition, a method for manufacturing the bag is disclosed.11-24-2011
20110297680CARTON WITH PLASTIC RECLOSABLE HEADER - The disclosure relates to a method and apparatus for manufacturing a package with a rigid or semi-rigid container and a polymeric or plastic header with a reclosure, such as a zipper. The rigid or semi-rigid container is typically provided in a stack of flat containers. The header is sealed, glued or otherwise secured to the containers. The container, typically inverted, is filled, and the bottom is formed by folding and sealing the bottom portion of the container.12-08-2011
