20090238935PRODUCTION OF STABILIZED WHOLE GRAIN FLOUR AND PRODUCTS THEREOF - A stabilized bran component and a stabilized whole grain flour containing the component are produced by subjecting a bran-enriched coarse fraction which contains bran, germ and starch to grinding or milling to reduce grittiness of the coarse fraction without substantially damaging the starch due to abrasion. The coarse fraction may be stabilized by heating to substantially reduce the lipase and lipoxygenase activity of the coarse fraction without substantial gelatinization of the starch. High levels of natural antioxidants and vitamins are retained while avoiding substantial acrylamide formation during the stabilization. The stabilized coarse fraction or stabilized bran component may be combined with a fine fraction which contains predominantly endosperm to obtain a stabilized whole grain flour. The stabilized whole grain flours and the stabilized bran component exhibit extended shelf life and may be used for making baked goods, such as cookies, with desirable oven spread, and a non-gritty mouthfeel.09-24-2009

20110118665DISPOSABLE CARPULE FOR HYPODERMIC SYRINGE - A standard dental syringe is made up of an outer cylinder with a plunger at one end, and a carpule which contains liquid medication to be injected into a patient is replaceably positioned within the barrel and includes a needle slidably mounted at one end of the carpule in communication with the fluid medication which is contained in a fluid chamber sealed off at each end by a plug so that when the plunger is advanced into engagement with a first plug at one end of the carpule the liquid medication is delivered through the needle and upon completion of the plunger stroke, a barbed extension of the slidable first plug member will move into engagement with the needle-retaining second plug member so that upon retraction of the plunger the needle-retaining plug member will be retracted along with the slidable first plug member. The needle is guided through a funnel-shaped sleeve assembly at the end of the barrel so that following the injection procedure the needle can be retracted and the portion of the guide can be removed so that the entire exposed end of the needle can be cut off following which both of the plug members and remainder of the needle can be once again retracted into the carpule assembly and removed from the barrel and replaced by a new carpule assembly.05-19-2011

20110100197SOUND SEQUENCES WITH TRANSITIONS AND PLAYLISTS - A home theater system includes construction, presentation, and commerce in, songs. Presentation includes at least one of: metadata about songs or sounds, a function capable of transitioning from one song to a next song, and user preferences; and can determine in what manner to transition from one song to a next song. Construction of songs includes either factors above, or at least one of: a function or a user extension capable of selecting a next song, and an element capable of determining whether the song is perceptually random. A user interface is capable of searching playlists and selecting them for presentation, representing each playlist with a substantially unique pictorial representation, distinguishing in presentation between those playlists licensed to the user and those that are not, and capable of substantially immediate purchase of playlist licenses either individually or in bulk and either automatically or with minimal intervention.05-05-2011
20110125298ALTERING FUNCTIONALITY FOR DIFFERENT CONTROL DEVICES - A method of interacting with a digital content device is described. The method includes associating a specific control device with specified functionality of the digital content device. A control signal is received from the control device. A state of the digital content device is altered to allow the control device to interact with the digital content device according to the specified functionality.05-26-2011
20110126019ALTERING FUNCTIONALITY FOR CHILD-FRIENDLY CONTROL DEVICES - A method of interacting with a digital content device is described. The method includes defining a collection of digital content available via the digital content device. A specific control device is associated with the collection of digital content. A control signal is received from the control device. The digital content device allows the control device to access digital content included in the collection.05-26-2011

20100052917SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR INTELLIGENT MEDICAL VIGILANCE WITH ALERT CAUSE INDICATION - An intelligent medical vigilance system that observes and analyzes, and, only in the event of a clinically significant negative condition, notifies and reports the event to the care staff utilizing the hospital's existing nurse call system. The device includes a bedside unit connected to a pad or coverlet with a sensor array (placed under the patient) and also to an existing hospital nurse call system via an interface. Within the physical bedside unit are a signal processor and an alarm processor that measure data and evaluate whether a clinically significant event is occurring. The bedside unit is a wall-mounted unit with a display that becomes active when an alarm condition is enabled. The sensing pad or coverlet is a thin, piezoelectric film, or other similar sensing technology, with an array of sensors sheathed in soft padding and is not directly in contact with the skin of the patient. The nurse call feature is made up of hardware, software and cabling to connect to the nurse call system already installed in the hospital or care facility. The monitoring system can also be installed in vehicles to monitor operator physiological conditions. Vigilance alarms are suspended if a patient is detected out of bed. An unable-to-measure alert is provided if the system is unable to reliably monitor. Bed exit alarms can be placed into a pause mode for supervised bed exit of patients on bed restriction. An alert message is generated and maintained on the display screen to inform a responding caregiver of the time and reason for any alarm.03-04-2010
