METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR SPACE DIVISION MULTIPLE ACCESS RECEIVER - Methods and systems consistent with this invention receive a plurality of transmitted signals in a receiver having a plurality of receive elements, wherein each transmitted signal has a different spatial location. Such methods and systems receive the plurality of transmitted signals at the plurality of receive elements to form a plurality of receive element signals, form a combined signal derived from the plurality of receive element signals, and detect each of the plurality of transmitted signals from the combined signal by its different spatial location. To achieve this, methods and systems consistent with this invention generate a plurality of arbitrary phase modulation signals, and phase modulate each of the plurality of receive element signals with a different one of the phase modulation signals to form a plurality of phase modulated signals. Such methods and systems then combine the plurality of phase modulated signals into a combined signal, generate expected signals, and cross-correlate the combined signal with the expected signals to form correlation signals. Such methods and systems then store the correlation signals in a correlation signal memory and analyze the correlation signals to extract information from the transmitted signals. | 12-31-2009

WIRELESS EXPLORATION SEISMIC SYSTEM - Systems and methods for seismic data acquisition employing a dynamic multiplexing technique. The dynamic multiplexing technique may include advancing one or more modules in a seismic array through a multiplexing signature sequence in successive transmission periods. The multiplexing signature sequence may be random or pseudo-random. A shared multiplexing signature sequence may be used at all the modules in the seismic array. As such, modules belonging to a common collision domain may operate out of phase with respect to the shared multiplexing signature sequence. | 05-12-2011

Ordered Nanoscale Domains by Infiltration of Block Copolymers - A method of preparing tunable inorganic patterned nanofeatures by infiltration of a block copolymer scaffold having a plurality of self-assembled periodic polymer microdomains. The method may be used sequential infiltration synthesis (SIS), related to atomic layer deposition (ALD). The method includes selecting a metal precursor that is configured to selectively react with the copolymer unit defining the microdomain but is substantially non-reactive with another polymer unit of the copolymer. A tunable inorganic features is selectively formed on the microdomain to form a hybrid organic/inorganic composite material of the metal precursor and a co-reactant. The organic component may be optionally removed to obtain an inorganic feature s with patterned nanostructures defined by the configuration of the microdomain. | 02-23-2012

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR IDENTIFYING INSTALLATION SITES OF ALTERNATIVE FUEL STATIONS - A method and system to identify suitable installation sites for alternative fuel stations. The system uses geocoded data sets and other data pertaining to a particular geographic market to generate three models: (1) the system generates a market capacity model that indicates the total number of stations that could be sustained by the present and/or projected consumer demand for alternative fuel within the market; (2) the system generates a hotspot model that indicates the geographic variation of estimated demand for alternative fuel within the market; and (3) the system generates a trade area model that indicates which locations within the market are quickly accessible by a sufficiently high number of alternative fuel consumers. When combined, these three models permit a user of the system to identify and analyze those locations within the market that are most suitable as alternative fuel station sites. | 05-13-2010

Miniature, Low-Power X-Ray Tube Using A Microchannel Electron Generator Electron Source - Embodiments of the invention provide a novel, low-power X-ray tube and X-ray generating system. Embodiments of the invention use a multichannel electron generator as the electron source, thereby increasing reliability and decreasing power consumption of the X-ray tube. Unlike tubes using a conventional filament that must be heated by a current power source, embodiments of the invention require only a voltage power source, use very little current, and have no cooling requirements. The microchannel electron generator comprises one or more microchannel plates (MCPs), Each MCP comprises a honeycomb assembly of a plurality of annular components, which may be stacked to increase electron intensity. The multichannel electron generator used enables directional control of electron flow. In addition, the multichannel electron generator used is more robust than conventional filaments, making the resulting X-ray tube very shock and vibration resistant. | 08-05-2010
