20090261568VEHICULAR SEATBELT RESTRAINT WITH SELECTIVELY DISABLED INERTIA REEL ASSEMBLY - A locking mechanism of an inertia reel assembly of a vehicular seatbelt restraint system is selectively disabled based on a latch status of a seatbelt buckle of the seatbelt restraint system. In one embodiment, a sensor at a latch assembly determines whether the seatbelt buckle is engaged with the latch assembly and provides an output signal based on this determination. A controller receives the output signal and selectively drives an actuator based on the output signal so as to enable or disable the locking mechanism of the inertia reel assembly. By disabling the locking mechanism of the inertia reel assembly when the seatbelt buckle is detected as unlatched, an occupant is able to quickly latch the seatbelt buckle even in the event of an inertial event that otherwise would have prevented any further extension of the seatbelt.10-22-2009

20100188988METHOD OF COMMUNICATION BETWEEN REDUCED FUNCTIONALITY DEVICES IN AN IEEE 802.15.4 NETWORK - In a 802.15.4 network, each reduced functionality device (RFD) is permitted to communicate with only an assigned full function device (FFD). The present invention allows each of the RFDs to communicate with another RFD upon the RFD determining that the local FFD assigned to the RFD is inoperable or unable to communicate. Under emergency conditions, the RFD is able to communicate with a closely located RFDs such that the closely located RFDs can receive and respond to an emergency situation and/or repeat the message. To satisfy the 802.15.4 standards, communication between the RFDs is allowed only during emergency conditions and when the FFD is inoperative. A comprehensive test procedure is included to insure the integrity of the system is preserved at all times.07-29-2010

20080217419Communicating Environmental Control System - A communicating environmental control system for a dwelling or building is provided. The environmental control system is intended for use in a dwelling which may be unoccupied for a long period of time, e.g., months. The control system operates in an economy mode to prevent damage to the dwelling and its contents by avoiding condensation of moisture within the dwelling. At the same time, the control system minimizes operating costs by running more when energy costs are lower and running less when energy costs are higher. The control system switches to a comfort mode when the dwelling occupants return. The control system is in communication with a remote owner, a remote utility, or a remote service provider, or more than one of these, through the Internet or other communication system.09-11-2008

20110008530SYSTEM AND METHOD TO FORM AND HEAT-TREAT A METAL PART - A system and method for direct manufacturing and stress relieving a metal part without removing the metal part from a vacuumed chamber. The system may comprise the chamber, a wire feeder for depositing a metal wire onto a metal plate, an electron beam (EB) source for providing an electron beam to melt the metal wire during deposition, and a current-providing apparatus for joule heating the metal plate to provide heat treatment to the metal part. The method may comprise depositing the metal wire onto the metal plate within the vacuumed chamber, then providing intermediate stress relief after a portion of the metal wire is deposited onto the metal plate by applying an electrical current to the metal part. The electron beam may also be set at a temperature below a melting point of a particular metal of the metal part for relieving stress in the metal part.01-13-2011

20090236893Travel head support - A travel head support is made up of a headband partially encircling the head, the headband having free ends and an adjustable strap between the ends for extension around the headrest portion of a seat, and a frontal portion includes a pocket for insertion of hot or cold packs or aromatic oils. In another embodiment, a head support can be releasably attached to headwear, so as to permit the head support to remain on a passenger's head whether or not the head support is attached to a headrest.09-24-2009

20090059839Broadband Satellite System and Method - Implementations of broadband satellite systems may comprise systems implementing embodiments of one, two or all of the aspects of distributed leadership, distributed bandwidth allocation and distributed timing. In systems implementing distributed leadership aspects, the control and administration of the network can be effectively performed by any site. In systems implementing distributed bandwidth allocation aspects, all remote sites may act in concert by running the same algorithm on the information they have received, arriving at a harmonious conclusion. In systems implementing distributed timing aspects, time division multiple access (“TMDA”) bursts within timeslots may not require a central timing reference, a distributed high stability timing reference or a timing leader.03-05-2009
20090204722DATA PACKET ENCAPSULATION METHODS - A data encapsulation system and related methods. Implementations may include: forming at least one frame having a data payload, a data sequence, and one or more control bytes; evaluating data to be stored in the data payload and setting a value of the one or more control bytes, where the value of the one or more control bytes may be equal to: a first control byte value where one or more values of the data correspond with the first control byte value; a second control byte value indicating a size of the data; or a third control byte value where one or more values of the data continue beyond the frame. The value of each one of the one or more control bytes for each of the at least one frames may be equal to either the first, second, or third control byte values.08-13-2009
