20080258342Dual Piston Valve Stem Actuator and Associated Method of Use - An injection molding apparatus includes a valve support structure having an internal channel for directing a flow of melted resin to a mold cavity. A first valve actuator is supported by the valve support structure and is operatively connected to a valve stem. The valve stem extends at least partially through the internal channel through a valve aperture. A bushing is fitted in the valve aperture. A second valve actuator is located adjacent the first valve actuator. The second valve actuator is operatively connected to a sleeve member with a hollow interior dimensioned to slidingly engage the valve stem and an exterior surface dimensioned for sliding movement in the bushing. The second valve actuator selectively moves the sleeve member between a retracted position where the sleeve member moves toward the bushing and an extended position where the sleeve moves away from of the bushing.10-23-2008
20080260889Nozzle Tip for High Melt Pressure Applications - An improved nozzle for high melt pressure applications includes an inner body portion having a melt channel, the inner body portion having an inlet face and a melt outlet; an outer body portion having a seal face, with the outer body portion inducing a compressive force on the inner body portion at least during operation of the nozzle; the plane of the inlet face of the inner body portion intersecting the outer body portion, resulting in no part of the inner body portion extending beyond the seal face of the outer body portion; and the inner and outer body portions having different relative thermal conduction and expansion coefficients.10-23-2008
20090191302Reconfigurable Hot Runner - A hot runner system having a melt distribution system that is reusable and reconfigurable to vary drop or nozzle locations to meet various design requirements. The melt distribution system includes a melt distributor in fluid communication with a melt source, at least one melt conduit in fluid communication with the melt distributor, and at least one nozzle in fluid communication with the at least one melt conduit. The hot runner system also includes a backing plate; a manifold plate detachably connected to the backing plate; a melt distribution system positioned between the backing plate and the manifold plate and having at least one nozzle associated therewith. The hot runner system may be configured and reconfigured to accommodate various drop or nozzle locations.07-30-2009
20090236774Melt Distribution Apparatus for Use in a Hot Runner and a Related Method for a Balancing of Melt Flow - Disclosed, amongst other things, is a melt distribution apparatus of a hot runner and a related method for balancing melt flow to a plurality of drops. The melt distribution apparatus includes a plurality of chokes with each choke of the plurality of chokes being associated with a corresponding one of a drop of a plurality of drops. Each choke of the plurality of chokes being configured to contribute, during an injection of a molding material therethrough, a choke melt-pressure loss such that the plurality of chokes contribute an aggregate choke melt-pressure loss that is generally between 10% and 75% of an aggregate hot runner melt-pressure loss.09-24-2009
20090274790SHOOTING POT FOR FEEDING MULTIPLE NOZZLES - A hot runner system including a shoot pot system for transferring melt from a single shooting pot to multiple nozzles. Melt is fed from a source of melt into the cavity through the multiple nozzles, and a valve isolates melt in the cavity from melt in the source. A plunger within the cavity is driven forward to inject melt in the cavity into a mold cavity at high pressure without significantly increasing the pressure of melt in the source. The plunger optionally functions as both the plunger and the valve by opening and closing communication between the cavity and the manifold as it is rotated.11-05-2009
20110033572Hot Runner System having Active Material - According to an aspect, there is disclosed a hot runner system (02-10-2011
20110038980Hot Runner Including Nozzle-Support Structure - Disclosed is a hot runner (02-17-2011
20110086121Safety Connector for Hot Runner, having Latch Releasably Interlocking Valve Stem with Actuation Plate - Disclosed is a safety connector for a hot runner having a valve stem and an actuation plate, the safety connector including: (i) a latch releasably interlocking the valve stem with the actuation plate so that in response to movement of the actuation plate, the valve stem becomes movable; and (ii) a latch mover being cooperative with the latch, and the latch mover being configured to move the latch responsive to a predetermined force acting on the valve stem so that so that the valve stem is released from the actuation plate.04-14-2011
20110135779Mold-Tool System having Manifold Body Defining Uninterrupted Melt Channels - A mold-tool system comprising: a manifold assembly, including: a manifold body defining: an inlet assembly; outlets being set apart from the inlet assembly; and uninterrupted melt channels extending between the inlet assembly and the outlets.06-09-2011
