20120085508METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR EXTRACTING HEAT FROM METAL CASTINGS AND MOLDS - A method and system for eliminating near-surface porosity and surface tear defects in metal castings. The system includes a complex casting mold having at least one core pin or other regions susceptible to new surface porosity and surface tears. The system further includes a copper rod fused internally to the core pin to extract heat from a molten metal introduced in the mold. The copper rod extracts heat at a low thermal flux, preventing near surface porosity and surface tears. Moreover, the copper rod extracts heat from the hotter regions of the casting causing it to solidify at a rate comparable to the rate of solidification of other portions of the casting, thereby allowing uniform solidification of the casting.04-12-2012

20110106698SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PROCESSING GIFT CARDS - Disclosed herein are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for enabling gift card recipients to redeem gift card amounts using existing accounts such as a credit/debit card. A system practicing the method identifies a giver and recipient of a gift card amount and associated accounts. A policy is established which governs how the gift card is redeemed, such as a specific merchant or item. When the recipient makes a purchase using an existing credit/debit card according to the policy, the gift card amount is applied to the transaction. No special codes, separate physical gift cards, or printable coupons are necessary for redemption. The recipient makes purchases using their normal purchasing credit/debit card via a qualifying purchase according to the policy, and the gift card is applied automatically. The recipient credit/debit card becomes a combination of an open-looped card and a closed-loop card. Thus, no money is wasted or lost.05-05-2011

20120031919Handled Gift Box - The present invention makes use of both the advantage of a traditional gift box and a traditional gift bag. By combining the structure of the traditional gift box with the handles of a traditional gift bag and inverting the normal structure of a gift box (having the top inside the bottom instead of top over bottom), the handled gift box, is a convenient choice for gift wrapping. Also, since the handled gift box comes either pre-decorated or undecorated (with the option of choosing different combinations of decorations themselves), the gift givers are given the freedom to customize the present invention however they see fit. The handled gift box can be used for, but is not limited to, apparel, picture frames, light food items, books, and other items designed to lay flat in the gift-giving process.02-09-2012

20080245538Automatic Stove Top Fire Extinguisher - A fire extinguishing system for use with gas or electric range stove top to automatically deploy and energize an audible alarm. The system includes a pressurized supply of inert gas within an inflatable bag. A grease fire on the stove top breaks the fusible cord and allows the case to open, releasing the inert gas supply. The inert gas inflates a flame resistant bag to cover the burners of the stove top. The bottom of the flame resistant bag is a specific temperature sensitive material that will decompose on contact with the grease fire. As the bottom decomposes, the flame resistant material surrounds the cooking container containing the grease fire. The grease fire becomes isolated by flame resistant materials and inert gas. The bottom two layers of the bag have an additional layer of non-flammable absorbent fiber between the two layers of the decomposing bottom. The decomposing bottom layer releases the non-flammable absorbent fiber into the cooking container containing the extinguished grease fire to absorb the cooking grease and prevent the cooking grease from re-igniting.10-09-2008
