The first length of the locking assembly is operable to substantially engage the knuckle in its closed position, while, when activated, the second length is suitable to disengage the knuckle to permit the knuckle to freely pivot towards it open position. A spring is provided along the knuckle; the spring operable to urge the knuckle towards its open position when the locking assembly is disengaged. The coupler comprises two interconnected elements defining a bottom member and a top member cooperating to receive the locking assembly therein. The bottom and top members are configured to permit a suitable portion of the locking assembly to project therethrough to contact a pair of wipers; the wipers, configured to both slidably contact the locking assembly and project from the housing, are operable to communicate an electric current between a conventional power source designated for energizing the track of a model railroad layout, a conventional electronic command device carried aboard the scale model railroad vehicle provided for administering the electric current, and the locking assembly. A housing, comprising a partial housing and a cover cooperating as securely interconnected elements, is provided to both pivotably receive the coupler for mounting along the end of the scale model railroad vehicle and receive the wipers along its interior such that they are suitably disposed for contacting the locking assembly.05-07-2009

20120129179SCN5A SPLICING FACTORS AND SPLICE VARIANTS FOR USE IN DIAGNOSTIC AND PROGNOSTIC METHODS - Provided herein are methods of identifying a subject at risk for arrhythmias, heart failure or sudden cardiac death. In exemplary aspects, the method comprises the step of determining a level of splicing factor hLuc7a, splicing factor RBM25 and/or PERK in a biological sample obtained from the subject, wherein an increased level, compared to a control level, indicates a risk for arrhythmia or heart failure. The invention also provides methods of diagnosing hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), or a risk therefor, in a subject. The method comprises the step of determining a level of E28D, RBM25, PRPF40A, or LUC7L3, or a combination thereof, in a biological sample obtained from the subject, wherein an increased level is indicative of the subject having HCM or a risk therefor. Diagnostic kits comprising binding agents for the markers are furthermore provided.05-24-2012

20100226204MARINE SEISMIC SURVEYING IN ICY OR OBSTRUCTED WATERS - A skeg mounts from the stern of a towing vessel and extends below the waterline. A channel in the skeg protects cables for steamers and a source of a seismic system deployed from the vessel. Tow points on the skeg lie below the water's surface and connect to towlines to support the steamers and source. A floatation device supports the source and tows below the water's surface to avoid ice floes. The streamers can have vehicles deployed thereon for controlling a position on the streamer. To facilitate locating the streamers, these vehicles on the streamers can be brought to the surface when clear of ice floes so that GPS readings can be obtained and communicated to a control system. After obtaining readings, the vehicles can be floated back under the surface. Deploying, using, and retrieving the system accounts for ice at the surface in icy regions. In addition, handling the seismic record can account for noise generated by ice impact events.09-09-2010

20120134234Declination Compensation For Seismic Survey - In seismic survey for icy waters, streamers are towed behind a vessel under the water's surface to avoid ice. GPS readings may not be consistently obtained because the ice prevents a tail buoy with a GPS receiver from trailing from streamer at the surface. Instead, a device tows on the streamer under the water's surface. The streamer's absolute position is tracked by intermittently bringing the towed device toward the surface so GPS readings can be obtained. The streamer's absolute position can then be used in conjunction with compass readings and can correlate various seismic sensor signals obtained along the streamer during the survey. The compass readings can be corrected for declination using declinometer readings, which can be compensated for iron effects from the vessel or other device carrying the declinometer.05-31-2012

20100168894SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DESIGNING A DIE TO YIELD A DESIRED COATING UNIFORMITY - In one embodiment, a computer implemented system and method for selecting dimensions of a die is disclosed. The method may include prompting a user to select a coating uniformity required to produce a particular coated product with the die. The user may also be prompted to select a slot height of the die. In some embodiments, the user may specify a value for one or more dimensions of the die. The method may then determine the total indicated run-out (TIR) of the coated product as a function of the dimensions of the die not having a user specified value. In certain embodiments, the method provides a thermal treatment process for reducing the number of finishing (e.g., grinding) cycles needed to produce a desired die flatness. In another embodiment, a computer implemented method for designing a coating die to achieve a desired coating uniformity with a particular coating fluid having a specified rheological characteristic is disclosed.07-01-2010

20110250401Method of Producing a Component of a Device, and the Resulting Components and Devices - The present method comprises providing a flexible web substrate (e.g., polymeric flexible web substrates) that forms at least part of a component of a device, coating so as to wet-out on and cover all or a substantial portion of a major surface on one side or both sides of the flexible web substrate with flowable polymeric material, while the flexible web substrate is moving in a down-web direction, and solidifying the polymeric material so as to form one cleaning layer on the major surface of one side or both sides of the flexible web substrate. The present invention can be utilized in a continuous in-line manufacturing process. In applications of the present invention where the flexible web substrate will not form a component of a device, the present invention broadly provides a method for cleaning particles from a flexible web of indefinite length. Each cleaning layer forms a substantially adhesive bond to the major surface that is readily removable without damaging or leaving a substantial residue of cleaning layer material on the major surface. A substantial number of the particles that were on this major surface are captured by and removable with the cleaning layer.10-13-2011
20120021134PROCESS AND APPARATUS FOR COATING WITH REDUCED DEFECTS - A process and apparatus for producing a polymer coating with reduced defects is described. The process includes coating a solution of a polymerizable material and a solvent on a substrate, polymerizing a portion of the polymerizable material, and removing a major portion of the solvent after polymerization of the portion of polymerizable material. A further polymerization of any remaining polymerizable material can occur after removal of the solvent. The apparatus includes a webline for conveying a substrate from an unwind roll to a windup roll, a coating section proximate the unwind roll for coating a solution of a polymerizable material and a solvent on the substrate, a polymerization section downweb from the coating section for polymerizing a portion of the polymerizable material, and a solvent removal section downweb from the polymerization section for removing the solvent after polymerization of the portion of the polymerizable material.01-26-2012
