| 20100138373 | Maximizing Diversity in a Subset of Elements Utilizing GRASP With Path Relinking - Methods, systems, and computer-readable media for maximizing diversity in a subset of elements selected from a set of elements are provided. An algorithm that combines the GRASP and path relinking heuristics is utilized to find an approximate solution to a max-min diversity problem modeled from the set of elements. The GRASP heuristic is applied to the set of elements for a number of iterations to generate a set of feasible solutions, and a best solution is determined from the set. The path relinking heuristic is then applied between a pair of solutions in the set of feasible solutions to generate a candidate solution. If the candidate solution is better than the best solution, then the best solution is replaced with the candidate solution, and the process is repeated until the path relinking heuristic has been applied between each pair of solutions in the set of feasible solutions. | 06-03-2010 |

| 20100154593 | Production of Metallic Nickel with Low Iron Content - A process for producing a metallic nickel product with a low iron content, including the steps of: (i) providing an acidic product liquor containing at least nickel and iron; (ii) subjecting said acidic product liquor to an ion exchange process wherein an ion exchange resin selectively absorbs said nickel and part of the iron from said product liquor; (iii) eluting the nickel and iron from said resin with an acidic solution to produce an eluate containing said nickel and iron. (iv) neutralising said eluate to a pH value in the range from 2.5 to 3.5 to cause precipitation of a substantial amount of said iron, leaving an iron depleted eluate; (v) neutralising the iron depleted eluate to a pH value in the range from 7 to 8 to cause precipitation of nickel hydroxide containing low iron; (vi) calcining said nickel hydroxide to convert it to nickel oxide; (vii) subjecting said nickel oxide to direct smelting in the presence of a reductant to produced a molten nickel phase; and (viii) refining said molten nickel phase by oxidation to produce a metallic nickel product with low iron content. | 06-24-2010 |

| 20080212340 | Method For Operating A Power Converter In A Soft-Switching Range - For converting a first DC voltage to a second DC voltage, a first bridge circuit comprised in a power converter is controlled to convert the first DC voltage to a first AC voltage. The first AC voltage is transformed to a second and possibly further AC voltage. The second and each possibly further AC voltage is converted to a DC voltage by respective bridge circuits. To increase efficiency of the power converter switches of the power converter are controlled to operate in soft switching. Thereto a duty cycle of each AC voltage is controlled. In an embodiment, a half-cycle voltage-time integral of each AC voltage is controlled to be substantially equal. | 09-04-2008 |

| 20090167431 | Class D Amplifier Having PWM Circuit with Look-up Table - A class D amplifier includes a noise-shaping modulator, a pulse width modulator, and a pulse amplifier. The noise-shaping modulator receive a pulse code modulated (PCM) signal and produces an oversampled PCM signal. The pulse width modulator produce a pulse width modulated (PWM) signal from the oversampled PCM signal. The pulse amplifier amplifies the PWM signal to produce an amplified PWM signal. The PWM uses a lookup table to convert from PCM to PWM. A compensation circuit optimizes amplifier performance. An optional demodulator filter converts the amplified PWM signal to an analog signal. The amplifier is ideal for integrated audio applications. | 07-02-2009 |
