20110257944MODELING HYDRAULIC FRACTURING INDUCED FRACTURE NETWORKS AS A DUAL POROSITY SYSTEM - A method for calibrating fracture networks. The method includes estimating an average fracture width of a fracture network using one or more of net fracturing pressure, Poisson's ratio, shear modulus, and fracture height; determining microseismic event envelope and base intensity data using a three-dimensional geomodel including microseismic event data; and determining hydraulic fracturing treatment (HFT) fracture intensity of post-hydraulic fracturing treatment (post-HFT) based on the average fracture width and HFT volume data. The method further includes calibrating the base intensity data to the HFT fracture intensity to obtain calibrated HFT fracture intensity, determining a proppant transportation and distribution scenario, and generating a dual porosity reservoir model based on the calibrated HFT fracture intensity and the proppant transportation and distribution scenario.10-20-2011

20110033247Effective Approach to Preventing and Remedying Distresses in Soils and Construction Materials - This invention describes a simple and effective method, through introducing fluoride ion releasing agent/salt(s), such as sodium fluoride, for preventing, reducing or eliminating the undesirable construction heave/expansion/distresses/damage, characterized by loss of dimensional stability and integrity of expansive soil layers or concrete structural elements, primarily caused by the formation of ettringite or similar minerals. We demonstrated the technology that can be easily applied to new construction sites and to the sites where repair/retrofit of the existing or potential distresses in soil subgrade, base, subbase, or construction materials is needed. Experiments have demonstrated the effectiveness and efficiency of the technology with applications to stabilization of soils with all range of aluminum and sulfate contents including more than 3000 ppm of sulfate, and to treating cementitious construction materials. This invention can also extend the application of lime to stabilization of sulfate-rich soils and remedy of foundation movement or tilting of buildings caused by the formation of ettringite.02-10-2011

20100202896PUMP MOTOR PROTECTOR WITH REDUNDANT SHAFT SEAL - An electric submersible pump device having a motor part, a pump part, and a protector part. The protector part includes redundant shaft seal parts.08-12-2010
20110168406DOWNHOLE HYDRAULIC COUPLING ASSEMBLY - A completions system utilizing a unique hydraulic coupling. The system includes an upper completion stinger configured for coupling to a lower completion tubular. Both the stinger and the tubular are outfitted with hydraulic lines therethrough. Thus, as the stinger is coupled to the tubular, hydraulic lines are also coupled. However, the termination of each line is sealingly covered by a slidable sleeve in advance of attaining the coupling between the stinger and tubular. Therefore, the lines are protected from contamination during potentially significant periods of well deployment that may occur in advance of completed coupling and system installation. Furthermore, the manner of hydraulic coupling between the stinger and tubular reduces the likelihood of damage to the hydraulic lines during the installation process.07-14-2011

20100189069Joint Carrier Allocation and Time Sharing for OFDMA/TDMA Networks - A method and system provide multiple-access control and frequency band allocation, and transmission time sharing among multiple users in orthogonal frequency-division multiple-access (OFDMA) and time-division multiple-access (TDMA) networks. The method can be applied to uplinks and downlinks of multi-user, multi-carrier communication networks. Under a total transmission-power minimization constraint, the method can allocate carriers and transmission time to users optimally, and at the same time, can guarantee a data rate or equivalently a latency requirement of each user.07-29-2010
20100246375Carrier Allocation and Time Sharing FOR OFDMA/TDMA Networks - A method allocates bandwidth to channels in an orthogonal frequency division multiple access and time division multiple access (TDMA) network. The network includes a master device (master) communicating with a set of slave devices (slaves). The master defines a set Ψ09-30-2010
20100260276Zero Correlation Zone Based Preamble for Oversampled OFDM Networks in URWIN - In an oversampled orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) orthogonal network, the preamble used for time synchronization does not have an ideal autocorrelation function due to guard bands, which degrade the accuracy of symbol timing. Therefore, a zero-correlation-zone (ZCZ) based preamble is used for time synchronization. Across correlation function (CCF) used for time synchronization is forced to 0 within a certain region around a main lobe. The length of the ZCZ is guaranteed to be larger than a cyclic prefix length of OFDM data symbols synchronization accuracy.10-14-2010

20090191874SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MANAGING RADIO LINK FAILURES - A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) (07-30-2009
20100189024PS-Poll Transmission Opportunity in WLAN - Embodiments of the invention provide a dynamic priority adjustment algorithm for PS-Poll packets in WLAN and dynamic CW (contention window) management algorithm for PS-Poll packets in WLAN. These improve the performance of traffic flows associated with STAs in power save mode. Maintain the QoS requirements of the traffic flows. When PS-Poll packets are not able to be sent, the QoS STA will experience a long delay of the downlink data, even if the downlink data has been assigned a higher AC. The delay may potentially violate the QoS bound required by the data flow. Using the embodiments can significantly decrease the probability of this event.07-29-2010
20100214942ADAPTIVE PERIODIC POWER-SAVE (PS) POLLING - In accordance with at least some embodiments, a system includes an access point and a station in communication with the access point. The station selectively implements adaptive periodic Power-Save (APPS)-Polling logic for communications between the station and the access point. The APPS-Polling logic is configured to determine a timer value for periodic PS-Polling by monitoring a periodicity of arrival packets for at least a threshold amount of time.08-26-2010
20100272192OFDM-Lite Architecture for HomePlug - A device for communicating digital data over power lines includes a power line interface for transmitting data over at least one band of frequencies. An orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) modulation unit generates OFDM symbols using a set of tones for the frequency band. A preamble generation unit generates preamble sequences for the frequency band by using the set of tones used by the OFDM modulation unit. The tones used by the preamble generation unit have a constant magnitude, and a set of phases obtained by quantizing to a small alphabet the phase of a set of tones obtained by taking an IFFT of a portion of a preamble used by a non-interoperable powerline access device. The device may transmit on two or more bands using a sampling frequency clock, wherein a lower band clock frequency is equal to or an integer divisor of a higher band clock frequency.10-28-2010
20110182178Randomization Management For Carrier Sensing Multiple Access with Collision Avoidance (CSMA-CA) - In at least some embodiments, a communication device includes a transceiver with Carrier Sensing Multiple Access with Collision Avoidance (CSMA-CA) logic. The CSMA-CA logic provides dynamic randomization management for a contention window size.07-28-2011
20110185075SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PREVENTING COLLISIONS IN A HIERARCHICAL NETWORK - A system and method for reducing transmission collisions. In one embodiment, a transmitter for communicating of a smart grid power line network includes an arbiter. The arbiter is configured to select a transmission interval during which the transmitter can transmit. The interval is selected from a plurality of available transmission intervals reserved for contending transmissions, and selected based on a level of a hierarchical network at which the transmitter is located. The interval selected is different from any interval used by a different transmitter spaced two hierarchical levels away from the level of the hierarchical network at which the transmitter is located.07-28-2011
