20100087975VEHICLE POWER AND SPEED CONTROL SYSTEMS - To control both acceleration and deceleration of vehicles having an electric drive with regenerative braking, there is disclosed a control actuator which is biased to a neutral position, and which is controllably moveable between opposed positive and negative control positions relative to the neutral position to produce a control signal ranging from a value corresponding to zero when in the neutral position to a positive or negative value dependent on the amount of movement from the neutral position. The actuator may comprise a rocking foot pedal which is rotationally biased to the neutral position and which is pivotable against the bias both clockwise and anticlockwise from the neutral position to a desired positive or negative power control position. In one system, the signal produced by the actuator is treated as a power control signal and is conditioned and used to control vehicle power (i.e. energy flow from the vehicle battery the vehicle's electric drive). In another system, the signal produced by the actuator is treated as a speed changing control signal and is conditioned and used to control vehicle speed. Whatever desired speed is reached by movement of the actuator from its neutral position, the speed is sustained if the actuator is then permitted to return to its neutral position.04-08-2010
20100308768DOCKING BAYS FOR RECHARGING VEHICLE BATTERIES - Docking bays for providing energy to vehicles having a rechargeable battery are disclosed. A given docking bay includes a pair of normally de-energized, unprotected, docking bay contacts for making electrical contact with cooperative vehicle contacts when the vehicle is driven into the docking bay. Typically the vehicle will be an electric vehicle, but is not necessarily an electric vehicle. The given docking bay also includes a contact energizer having an output operatively connected to the docking bay contacts and an input connectable to an external source of energy, for example a domestic AC power grid. The energizer is switchable in response to an energizer control signal from a first state where battery recharging energy is not provided to the docking bay contacts to a second state where battery recharching energy derived from the external source is provided to the docking bay contacts. A controller is operatively connected to the energizer.12-09-2010

20080247955Inflammation treatment, detection and monitoring via TREM-1 - The present invention provides methods of treating inflammatory diseases/disorders in a subject by inhibiting/antagonizing TREM-1 expression/activity/signal transduction and/or DAP12/TyroBP expression and/or activity. Methods of detecting the presence of inflammatory disease in a subject by detecting TREM-1 and/or DAP12/TyroBP expression and/or activity in the subject or a sample obtained therefrom, wherein increased expression or activity is indicative of the inflammatory disease are also included. The present invention further provides methods for assessing the efficacy of a TREM-1-modulating agent administered to a patient by detecting levels of secreted phosphoprotein 1 (SPP1) and/or one or more other biomarkers in the patient or in a sample from the patient.10-09-2008

20080242780SEALANT MATERIALS AND METHODS OF USING THEREOF - The present invention is a method of using a sealant material, which includes providing the sealant material, where the sealant material comprises mineral oil, petroleum wax, and a viscosity builder, and where the sealant material exhibits a first hardness. The viscosity builder is selected from a group consisting of polybutene, a styrene-rubber diblock copolymer, an ethylene-propylene oligomer, and combinations thereof. The method also includes applying a shear force to at least a first portion of the sealant material, where the first portion of the sealant material exhibits a second hardness after the shear force is applied, and where the first hardness is at least two times greater than the second hardness.10-02-2008
20100087079COMPOSITION, METHOD OF MAKING THE SAME, AND USE THEREFOR - A composition includes in relative proportion: 60 to 94 parts by weight of mineral oil; 1 to 30 parts by weight of at least one thermoplastic elastomer; and 5 to 30 parts by weight of non-halogenated metal phosphinate, wherein the non-halogenated metal phosphinate has a decomposition temperature of at least 240° C., and wherein the composition is a gel. A method of making the composition and its use as an encapsulant are also disclosed.04-08-2010
20100285231APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING TWO-SIDED PATTERNED WEB IN REGISTRATION - An apparatus for casting a patterned surface on both sides of an opaque web. The apparatus includes a first patterned roll, a second pattered roll, and a means for rotating the first and second patterned rolls such that their patterns are transferred to opposite sides of the opaque web while it is in continuous motion. During this process, their patterns are maintained in continuous registration to within at least 100 micrometers.11-11-2010
20110030190SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PROVIDING FINAL DROP IN A LIVING UNIT IN A BUILDING - A system and method for providing a final drop in a living unit in a building. The system comprises a point-of-entry unit, such as a low profile base unit, disposed within the living unit at a location corresponding to an access position of horizontal cabling disposed in a hallway of the building that provides a first anchor point. The system also includes an adhesive-backed duct, having one or more communication lines disposed therein, mountable to a wall within the living unit. The system also includes a second anchor point, such as a wall receptacle, disposed within the living unit to receive a first communication line via the duct. The components of the system are also designed with very low impact profiles for better aesthetics within the living unit.02-10-2011
20110030832ADHESIVE BACKED DUCTS FOR CABLING APPLICATIONS - A duct for distributing one or more communication lines comprises an elongated body having a length and a conduit portion with a lengthwise bore formed therein, the conduit portion containing one or more communication lines. The duct also includes a flange extending lengthwise adjacent the elongated body to mount the duct to a mounting surface. The duct also includes an adhesive layer disposed on a bottom surface of the flange. The duct may further include a strength member extending lengthwise with the flange. The strength member may be disposed between the bottom surface and the adhesive layer or within the conduit. The duct may include an open slot in the top to allow for insertion and removal of the communication line. The duct may also be configured such that the conduit portion is attached to the flange structure via a thin web of material having a thickness such that upon modest application of a peeling force, a segment of the conduit portion is detachable from the flange structure.02-10-2011
