20090274848IMPINGEMENT PART COOLING - This disclosure relates to a thermal spray coating system including a table that is configured to support a component. A spray torch is configured to direct a thermal spray at a component surface. A cooling device is arranged adjacent to spray torch and configured to be in close proximity to the component surface. The cooling device includes a manifold that is connected to an air supply. The manifold has a face with multiple impingement holes less than one-eighth inch (3.1 mm) in diameter that are configured to direct cooling air on the component surface. In one example, the diameter of the impingement holes is approximately 0.059 inch (1.5 mm) and provide cooling air at a velocity of at least 400 ft per second (122 meters per second). The face is arranged within one inch (25 mm) of the component surface, in one example. Accordingly, the above cooling device uses less air and yields more consistent results in thermal coating of the component.11-05-2009

20090222829METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DECOMPOSING I/O TASKS IN A RAID SYSTEM - A data access request to a file system is decomposed into a plurality of lower-level I/O tasks. A logical combination of physical storage components is represented as a hierarchical set of objects. A parent I/O task is generated from a first object in response to the data access request. A child I/O task is generated from a second object to implement a portion of the parent I/O task. The parent I/O task is suspended until the child I/O task completes. The child I/O task is executed in response to an occurrence of an event that a resource required by the child I/O task is available. The parent I/O task is resumed upon an event indicating completion of the child I/O task. Scheduling of any child I/O task is not conditional on execution of the parent I/O task, and a state diagram regulates the child I/O tasks.09-03-2009

A range of storage device block numbers (DBNs) is assigned to each of a plurality of storage devices. A first mapping parameters are created to map a first range of VBN numbers to a first selected range of DBNs using a first portion of a new storage device. A second mapping parameters are created to map a second range of VBN numbers to a second range of DBNs on a second portion of the new storage device.04-15-2010

20090238180COMMUNICATIONS SWITCHING ARCHITECTURE - Presently described is a system and method for switching multimedia data communications, including but not limited to Voice over IP (VoIP) telephony, cable TV, digital audio and video. The system utilizes a single, integrated device to provide all PacketCable-compliant functionality, including enhanced user privacy, compliance with CALEA, E911 and other mandated services not available in conventional distributed PacketCable systems. High speed and efficient, low cost operation are provided by means of an optimized data unit encapsulation scheme for internal switching and routing. A proprietary fiber optic backplane and removable optical connectors are used to enable lightspeed internal communications hot-swapping of components. Furthermore, the present system is extensible to all forms of digital data switching and is secure, resistant to Denial of Service attacks, and fault-resilient.09-24-2009
20100008357SWITCHING ARCHITECTURE WITH PACKET ENCAPSULATION - The invention includes, among other things, a system for passing TDM traffic through a packet switch. In one embodiment, the system includes a packet switch that has a plurality of data ports and is capable of routing FSDU packets between the plurality of data ports. A TDM encapsulation circuit process a TDM data flow that is incoming to the switch. A circuit demultiplexer processes the incoming data flow to buffer data associated with different TDM circuits into different buffer locations. A timer monitors the amount of time available to fill the FSDU, and when the time period reaches the frame boundary, an FSDU generator generates an FSDU that is filled with data associated with the TDM circuits. Header information is added for allowing the packet switch to route the generated FSDU to a port associated with the respective TDM circuit.01-14-2010
