A fractional sampling device is used by the person to acquire a sample of the work and store the sample in the device. The device is subsequently connected to a search apparatus via a physical wire connection, wireless interface, or the Internet. The sampling stored in the device is then provided to the search apparatus. The search apparatus accesses one or more databases in which is stored substantially the entire contents of the work including identifying indicia about the work. Subsequently the search apparatus matches the sample with information about the work stored in the database and provides information identifying the work, related information, or the work itself to the person. This invention also allows a person to perceive a work at the person preferred location and time.12-16-2010
