20090045296MULTI-MODE UNMANNED AND MANNED VEHICLEL SYSTEMS AND METHODS - An apparatus for converting a manned aircraft of a type including at least one pilot control capable of manipulation to affect operation of the aircraft for unmanned flight operations includes first and second actuators, each configured to selectively provide movement or resistance to movement in a first manner including linear or rotational motion, first and second clutches, each configured to selectively couple movement of the associated actuator to the pilot control, and a vehicle controller capable of being selectively enabled to operate the pilot control actuators and clutches and thereby provide unmanned operation of the aircraft, or of being disabled, thereby providing for manned operation of the aircraft. The first actuator has a first scope describing a first amount of allowable movement, while the second actuator has a second scope larger than the first scope.02-19-2009

20110196196CARDIAC DISEASE TREATMENT AND DEVICE - A cardiac constraint device comprising a jacket of biological compatible material and an adjustment member. The jacket is adapted to be secured to the heart to snugly conform to an external geometry of the heart and assume a maximum adjusted volume to constrain circumferential expansion of the heart beyond the maximum adjusted volume during diastole and to permit unimpeded contraction of the heart during systole. The adjustment mechanism is configured to alter the internal volume defined by the jacket after the jacket is secured to the heart. The invention also provides a method for treating cardiac disease.08-11-2011

20090198698System and Method for Adding Multi-Leval Security to Federated Asset Repositories - A system and method for adding multi-level security to federated asset repositories is provided. A multi-level security (MLS) manager receives normalized taxonomies from repository managers, which manage repositories that include assets assigned various security levels. In turn, the MLS manager integrates the taxonomies into a composite taxonomy. When a portal receives a request from a user, the portal sends a taxonomy request to the MLS manager that includes the user's user identifier. The MLS manager retrieves the composite taxonomy, identifies the user's security level, filters the composite taxonomy based upon the user's security level, and provides the filtered composite taxonomy to the portal. In turn, the portal generates a user interface view based upon the filtered composite taxonomy and provides the user interface view to the user, which utilizes the user interface view to request and receive access to assets from one or more federated repositories.08-06-2009
