20100046957METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR A POLARIZATION MODE DISPERSION TOLERANT OPTICAL HOMODYNE DETECTION SYSTEM WITH OPTIMIZED TRANSMISSION MODULATION - An optical homodyne communication system and method in which a side carrier is transmitted along with data bands in an optical data signal, and upon reception, the side carrier is boosted, shifted to the center of the data bands, and its polarization state is matched to the polarization state of the respective data bands to compensate for polarization mode dispersion during transmission. By shifting a boosted side carrier to the center of the data bands, and by simultaneously compensating for the effects of polarization mode dispersion, the provided system and method simulate the advantages of homodyne reception using a local oscillator. The deleterious effects of chromatic dispersion on the data signals within the data bands are also compensated for by applying a corrective function to the data signals which precisely counteracts the effects of chromatic dispersion.02-25-2010

20080272729Assembly of a Motor Vehicle Body and Control Device of Such an Assembly - A control device is provided for an assembly of a motor vehicle body, which assembly can be moved between at least two positions, specifically at least between a position retracted to the maximum extent and a position deployed to the maximum extent, in particular a spoiler. The control device contains a first sensor which transmits a signal to an evaluation device, which determines the position of the assembly from the signal of the first sensor, in dependence on the rotational speed of a motor which serves to move the assembly, and a second sensor which monitors a deployed position of the assembly and transmits a corresponding signal to the evaluation device. The evaluation device corrects the signal provided by the first sensor when the assembly is at least temporarily located in the position monitored by the second sensor and the signal provided by the first sensor is outside a tolerance range.11-06-2008
20100102629Method for Controlling the Movement of an Adjusting Element in a Motor Vehicle - A method controls a movement of an adjusting element in a motor vehicle, preferably a window mechanism or a sliding roof. A closing operation is started by a user of the vehicle via a suitable operating unit. The movement of the adjusting element is monitored for resistance and the movement of the adjusting element is stopped upon detection of resistance. After a movement for opening the adjusting element has been stopped the current degree of opening of the adjusting element is determined and compared to a predefinable reference value, the adjusting element moving back automatically to the closed position if the degree of opening is below the predefinable reference value.04-29-2010
20100146174Method for Protecting Against External Interventions into a Master/Slave Bus System and Master/Slave Bus System - The method serves for protecting against external interventions into a master/slave bus system. The master/slave bus system contains at least one slave and at least one authorized master for outputting an authentic command. The authentic command instructs the slave to carry out a function. Accordingly, the authenticity of the command which has been transmitted over the bus is checked. The execution of the function is enabled only in the event of a positive check result.06-10-2010

20120078908PROCESSING A REUSABLE GRAPHIC IN A DOCUMENT - A method and apparatus are provided for processing a graphic in a document so that the graphic may be reused in a different application than the one it was originally used in. For a given document, a graphic may be identified from within the document and extracted from the document. The extracted graphic may be stored in a suitable storage medium, such as a reusable graphic repository. A structural feature associated with the extracted graphic may also be extracted. The extracted graphic may then be classified based on the extracted structural feature. Furthermore, a method and apparatus are provided for generating a reusable graphic from a document.03-29-2012

20100049968COMPUTER NETWORK - A computer network is disclosed in which a group of computers co-operate to perform a distributed application. In order to ensure that only members of that group of computers are able to carry out certain operations, messages sent in the performance of the distributed application are checked by the recipient for the presence of a group membership token. The inclusion of a group membership token is controlled by one or more group membership handlers which intercept messages from local components and only include a group membership token with the message if they list the sending local component as being entitled to include the group membership token in the message. Furthermore, by operating the group membership token on a separate machine, or preferably a separate virtual machine from the local component, security is further improved. In the most preferred embodiments, the group token handler and/or the local component are hosted on virtual machines which provide virtualised cryptographic functionality.02-25-2010
20100138674 COMPUTER NETWORK - A distributed computer system is disclosed in which computers co-operate with one another by sending messages over a network such as the Internet in order to perform a distributed application. In order to improve the security of such system, each web service involved in the distributed application runs in a separate virtual machine. Furthermore, the virtual machines on a web server dedicated to respective web service instances utilise the same policy enforcement point—running in another virtual machine on the web-server—in order to handle messages for or from the web server. To increase security still further, each virtual machine provides virtual cryptoprocessor functionality which is used in the processing of messages sent in the performance of the distributed application.06-03-2010
