Dispenser - A hand-held dispenser for dispensing a pharmaceutical product is disclosed. The dispenser has a housing providing a duct. A frangible membrane is provided in the duct. A probe with a piercing tip is mounted in the duct and arranged such that, in use the piercing tip pierces the frangible membrane. An air compression device is provided to compress air for expelling a pharmaceutical product through the probe and a channel is provided to substantially equalise the pressure in the air compression device and the pressure above the frangible membrane. The ability to substantially equalise the pressure in the bellows and the pressure above the frangible membrane on the sheath provides for a mote consistent release of pharmaceutical product when the frangible membrane is pierced. This is because the compressed air from the bellows which expels the pharmaceutical product through the probe does not encounter a sudden change in pressure as it passes the pierced frangible membrane with the entrained pharmaceutical product. In use, when compressed air is used to expel a pharmaceutical product through the probe, the air path through the probe has a lower resistance than the channel to substantially equalise the pressure in the air compression device and the pressure above the frangible membrane. This ensures that the majority of the compressed air is used to expel the pharmaceutical product. The piercing tip preferably comprises a generally annular cutting edge on an end portion of the probe with an interruption in the generally annular cutting edge. | 07-02-2009

MONO-HYDROCHLORIC SALTS OF AN INHIBITOR OF HISTONE DEACETYLASE - This invention provides novel crystalline forms of mono-HCl salts and a mono-HCl salt hydrate of JNJ-26481585, an inhibitor of histone deacetylases. The invention also relates to processes for production of these forms, to intermediates used in these processes, to pharmaceutical compositions comprising these forms, and to the use of these forms in medical treatment for instance as a medicine to inhibit proliferative conditions, such as cancer and leukemia. | 05-27-2010

PLATFORM FOR MOBILE ADVERTISING AND MICROTARGETING OF PROMOTIONS - An end-to-end mobile advertising system characterizes user behavior (e.g., location, interaction with advertisements on a mobile communication device, etc.) in order to select micro-targeted advertisements. A marketplace platform handles the formatting required for presentation suitable for mobile communication devices in accordance with negotiated tags for a desired audience (“reach”), for a suitable number of presentations (“frequency”) and for an effective duration (“time”) within a particular scheduled window. A condition of schedule for a timed coupon advertisement campaign is supported. Effectiveness is gauged even in the instance of impression advertisements by monitoring user location and/or interaction with the communication device to see a change in behavior (e.g., does not go to a competitor as forecasted, does go to a location of the advertiser, calls the advertiser, clips the advertisement for future reference, etc.). The marketplace platform secures user identification for privacy reasons from advertising entities that provide the advertisements. | 08-06-2009
MULTIPLE ACTIONS AND ICONS FOR MOBILE ADVERTISING - On a mobile communication device there are many more possible workflows that could be followed given the available functions of that device. These may include, but are not limited to, “click to call”, “click to locate”, “click to SMS”, “click to send a picture”, “click to handle later”, and can be constrained only by the available and accessible functionality of the user's device. A list of actions to be made available associated with an advertisement are provided along with an iconic visual representation of those actions for the user to identify what the resultant workflow will be if they activate the action. The list can be presented as selectable actions within the advertisement, on a sub menu activated by a dedicated device key or assigned softkey, or directly activated by using dedicated device keys or assigned soft keys, or other user-to-device interaction methods. | 08-06-2009

METHODS FOR DETERMINING A PROGNOSIS IN MULTIPLE MYELOMA - Methods for determining a prognosis in multiple myeloma are disclosed, and in particular to methods that are capable of identifying patients with a poor prognosis and/or for determining the likelihood of a patient responding to a particular treatment. The methods identify myeloma samples having homozygous deletions in cell death genes, with dysregulated expression of 97 cell death genes forming a cell death expression signature, which is associated with poor prognosis in multiple myeloma. In a preferred aspect, three gene pairs, were found to provide a prognostic a “six gene signature” based on BUB1B and HDAC3; CDC2 and FIS1; and RAD21 and ITM2B (high expressors and low expressors respectively). | 12-08-2011

COMPUTER INPUT SWITCHING DEVICE - A switching device for automatically sharing a pointing input device between a plurality of computers is described. The switching device includes an input for receiving relative pointer position data from the pointing input device and a plurality of outputs, each connectable to a respective one of a plurality of computers. A controller receives the input relative position data and converts the relative pointer position data to absolute pointer position data. Which of the plurality of computers to route input data to is determined based on the absolute pointer position data. Input data is routed to one of the plurality of computers so that a cursor position on a display device of the computer can be controlled by the pointing input device. Switching apparatus is also described that combines video data from the plurality of computers for display on a single display device and the cursor position on a portion of the display device corresponding to a one of the computers is controlled by the input pointing device. | 02-24-2011
