SELF-BALANCING ADJUSTABLE FLAT PANEL MOUNTING SYSTEM - A self-balanced adjustable mounting system for a flat panel display. A display interface having a hollow, semi-spherical shell portion is attached to the flat panel display. The semi-spherical shell is formed with a generally constant radius of curvature. The center of the radius of curvature is disposed proximate the center of gravity of the flat panel display with the display interface attached. The display interface is received in a guide structure that has a bearing portion engaging the outer surface of the semi-spherical shell, and a second bearing portion engaging the inner surface of the semi-spherical shell through an aperture formed in the semi-spherical shell. The semi-spherical shell is guided between the first and second bearing portions so that the flat panel display and device interface are generally rotatable about the center of the radius of curvature of the semi-spherical shell. The display is self balancing in virtually any position in the range of travel of the device due to the location of the center of rotation proximate the center of gravity. | 08-26-2010

RESPONSE SYSTEM AND METHOD WITH DYNAMIC PERSONALITY ASSIGNMENT - A response system and method of receiving remotely entered user input selections at a central location includes providing at least one base unit and a plurality of response units. A user input selection is received with each of the response units. The user input selection is communicated to the at least one base unit utilizing wireless communication. Personality data is received at each of the response units. The at least one base unit communicates with each of the response units according to the personality data of the particular one of the response units to receive a user input selection. The personality data is received by an individual one of the response units communicating with the at least one base unit at close proximity to provide personality data to that response unit. | 02-12-2009
AUDIO INTERRUPT SYSTEM - An audio interrupt system includes multiple audio players—such as a computer, compact disc player, cassette player, stereo, cell-phone, or MP3 player—that generate electrical audio signals and transmit the electrical audio signals to an associated transducer—such as a headphone or a speaker—that converts the electrical audio signals into aural signals that may be heard by a listener. Multiple audio controllers are provided that alter the transmission of the electrical audio signals from at least one of the audio players to the audio player's associate transducer. A hub transmits a control signal to the audio controllers that causes the audio controllers to alter the transmission of the electrical audio signals from the audio players to the associated transducer. The alteration may involve terminating the electrical audio signals or reducing an amplitude of them. | 04-29-2010

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CHECKING DOCUMENTS OF VALUE - The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for recognizing forged documents of value, wherein the documents of value are illuminated with clocked excitation light of a light source. Within the bright phase of the excitation light a first luminescence intensity is detected, within the dark phase a second luminescence intensity. Because of the afterglow of the light pulses there is a residual fluorescence, which distorts the luminescence intensity in the dark phase. By linking the second luminescence intensity with the first luminescence intensity, e.g. by subtracting a scaled first luminescence intensity, a corrected second luminescence intensity is determined, which substantially corresponds to the phosphorescence signal of the document of value. | 03-26-2009

Air treatment and sound reduction system - A device for reducing sound from an air treatment unit includes, in one embodiment, an air treatment system, including a wall mount HVAC unit with a supply air opening and a return air opening. A supply air sound reducer is provided in communication with the supply air. The supply air sound reducer includes a housing defining a supply interior provided with sound reducing material. The sound reducing material is overlaid with a layer of perforated material. A return air sound reducer is provided in communication with the return air opening. The return air sound reducer includes a housing defining an interior return volume provided with sound reducing material applied to one or more inside surfaces of the interior return volume and a layer of perforated material disposed over the sound reducing material. Mid-structure including sound reducing material is disposed in each of the supply and return air assemblies. | 01-22-2009
