Method to Measure Dynamic Internal Calibration True Dose Response Curves - A method of determining an amount of analyte in a sample solution is provided. The method involves the use of an assay device that has a substantially planar assay surface. The surface has a plurality of calibration dots a test dot printed thereon. The calibration dots contain pre-determined quantities of the analyte while the test dot includes a capture antibody for binding to the analyte. The analyte is mixed into a solution having a sample antibody for the analyte, where the antibody is labeled with a detectable marker. The sample solution is introduced into the loading portion of the assay device for delivery to said reading portion. The next step is to measure the intensity of detectable marker in the calibration dots. With the data obtained, one then prepares a calibration curve correlating the amount of analyte in said calibration dots to said intensity of detectable marker. The intensity of detectable marker in the test dot can be measures and the amount of analyte present in said test dot calculated by comparing the intensity of detectable marker to the amount of analyte corresponding to the intensity in said calibration curve. | 09-11-2008

METHOD AND DEVICE FOR DETERMINING THE MASS OF POSTAL ARTICLES TRANSFERRED IN SUCCESSION ALONG A PATH - Method and device for determining the mass of postal articles transferred in succession; according to the method, the postal articles are transferred along a path having a change of direction, which entails an acceleration on the postal articles; at least one quantity is measured indicating of the force of reaction to the inertia of the postal articles associated to said acceleration so as to determine then the mass of the postal articles. | 07-23-2009
DEVICE FOR PROCESSING MAIL ITEMS IN BUNDLES - A device for processing mail items, having: at least one stacking device for forming a bundle of superimposed mail items and moving it from a forming position to a loading position; one or more robots for removing the bundles in the loading position and moving them into a covering position; one or more covering devices for placing upside down containers over the bundles in the covering position, so the bundles of mail items are housed inside the containers; a conveying system supplied by the covering devices with bundles of mail items covered with respective upside down containers; and a turnover device for turning the containers over through 180°, so the containers are positioned with their respective openings facing upwards. | 10-29-2009
Machine for sorting flats - A sorting machine at least for flat postal items comprises a stacking module having a plurality of stacking stations, which define respective channels along which the postal products are carried and a first plurality of rollers for handling the postal products along the stacking stations, a first carrying assembly defining a second channel configured for carrying the postal products towards the stacking module and comprising a second plurality of rollers for carrying the postal products, a plurality of deviating assemblies, each of which comprises a first device selectively mobile for deviating a flat into the channel of the desired stacking station, and a second carrying assembly delimiting an outlet channel communicating with the plurality of stacking stations, wherein at least one of the first and second rollers is mobile transversely with respect to the direction of conveyance of the postal products on the machine. | 07-22-2010

Methods and devices for providing scalable RFID networks - According to some implementations of the present invention, RFID devices and middleware servers are automatically provisioned with a network address and with instructions for sending a request for a middleware server to a middleware server assigner. In some implementations, the middleware server assigner is a load balancer. In some implementations, a middleware server is associated with a plurality of RFID devices by associating a middleware server network address or names with the network addresses of the RFID devices. Preferred methods also provide for redundancy of middleware servers and dynamic reassignment of RFID devices from an unavailable middleware server to an available middleware server. | 08-21-2008

AUTO-SENSING, AUTOMATIC ADJUSTING EXHAUST BAFFLE - An auto-sensing, automatic adjusting exhaust baffle; for reducing noise emissions produced by internal combustion engines, while improving overall engine performance, i.e., torque and horsepower. The design uses a spherical shape to evacuate spent exhaust gas, thus scavenging the surrounding exhaust gases to adjust the backpressure, while reducing the noise exiting the exhaust pipe at lower rpm's. The device uses a sphere with an internal bearing; sliding linearly on a shaft and said sphere and bearing being acted upon by exhaust gasses and a compression spring mounted axially over the diameter of the shaft. The purpose of this device is to reduce noise while improving tuning of the air/fuel intake system, by adjusting backpressure of the exhaust system. The lesser amount of exhaust pressure, the less the sphere moves, as in idle to just off of idle, this results in a quiet operational mode of the invention. As more exhaust pressure is presented, as in higher throttle positions, the more the sphere moves away from the discharge ports, the louder the sound will be from the exit end of the exhaust pipe, this results in the active mode of the invention, obtaining the desired sound and adjusted backpressure throughout the power band. | 03-18-2010
