20100082270FORCE SENSOR FOR USE IN AN INPUT DEVICE AND METHODS FOR CONSTRUCTING AND USING THE SENSOR - The disclosure addresses a force sensor that is scalable in size and adaptable to a variety of form factors, including those suitable for use in an input device for a computer or other processing system, and in some cases including those of the configuration normally referred to as a computer mouse. The force sensor will include at least two structural members that are cooperatively attached one another as to be displaced from one another in response to a force acting upon one of the structural members. In some examples, the engagement between the two structural members will be specifically configured to allow such displacement in response to forces acting laterally on the force sensor. The force sensor will also include one or more sensing mechanisms to provide a measurement of the sensed deflection.04-01-2010

20100039381ROTATABLE INPUT DEVICE - In an example embodiment, a computer mouse is provided. This computer mouse includes a surface tracking sensor that detects movement of the computer mouse along the support surface. Additionally included are one or more orientation sensors that detect a movement of the computer mouse relative to a pivot point. The computer mouse also includes a controller that is configured to translate the movement along the support surface into a two-dimensional coordinate and to translate the movement relative to the pivot point into a magnitude of rotation.02-18-2010
20110012717METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR LOCALIZATION OF HAPTIC FEEDBACK - In an embodiment, a haptic feedback system includes a plurality of actuators to provide tactile feedback associated with an input surface. Each actuator is adapted to be activated independently of the other actuators. The system further includes a controller to activate a first actuator of the plurality of actuators to induce a first vibration at a selected input location of the input surface and to activate one or more additional actuators to induce at least a second vibration to localize the first vibration at the selected input location.01-20-2011
20110043227METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR CAPACITIVE SENSING - The present disclosure addresses methods and apparatus facilitating capacitive sensing using a conductive surface, and facilitating the sensing of proximity to the conductive surface. The sensed proximity will often be that of a user, but can be another source of a reference voltage potential. In some examples, the described systems are capable of sensing capacitance (including parasitic capacitance) in a circuit that includes the outer conductive surface, and where that outer conductive surface is at a floating electrical potential. In some systems, the systems can be switched between two operating modes, a first mode in which the system will sense proximity to the conductive surface, and a second mode in which the system will use a capacitance measurement to sense contact with the conductive surface.02-24-2011

20110132806REMOVAL OF NITROGEN COMPOUNDS FROM FCC DISTILLATE - A method for the removal of nitrogen compounds from FCC feed or from catalytically cracked distillates including FCC cycle oils by using formaldehyde to selectively couple organic heterocyclic nitrogen species in the FCC feed or FCC distillate to form higher boiling coupling products out of the boiling range of FCC distillate. Removal of the nitrogenous compounds improves the operation of subsequent hydrodesulfurization steps needed for the distillate fraction to conform to low sulfur standards. The formaldehyde is preferably used in the form of paraformaldehyde. The reaction between the nitrogenous compounds in the cycle oil fraction with the formaldehyde is conveniently carried out in the cycle oil pumparound circuit of the FCC main column.06-09-2011

20120006870Support structure for electronic visual display device - A support structure for an electronic visual display device with a pair of vehicle head rest post clamping members, a first and second extension rod, a first and second joint member and an electronic device support plate. The first extension member is L shaped. One end end protrudes into and locks to the headrest post attachment members. The opposite end terminates in a ball shaped member. The second extension rod terminates at each end in a ball shaped members. The support plate has a ball shaped member fixed to its underside. The joint members connect the first and second extension rods to the underside of the support plate. The plate has a clamping member that can retain the visual display device. The joint members clamp on the ball shaped members when joint locking knobs are turned allowing the display to be positioned in a desired location.01-12-2012

20100162796Device for Analyzing Size and Location of Conductive Item - A matrix analyzer for determining the size and location of a conductive item placed thereon. The matrix analyzer includes plural row conductors and column conductors with a corresponding grid of conductive areas exposed on the surface of the matrix analyzer. When a conductive item, such as an ink droplet, is jetted onto the matrix analyzer, the intersection of various row conductors and column conductors exhibit a low resistance. The rows and columns of the matrix analyzer can be sequentially accessed to find those intersections where the low resistance exists. From such data, the size and location of the ink droplets can be determined.07-01-2010

20090085494IMPROVEMENT TO LIGHTING SYSTEMS - The present invention relates to power adaptors for solid state lighting units and fixtures, of a kind including light emitting diodes, one of the adaptors comprising an input for receiving a phase controlled input power signal of varying on-duration and a controller coupled to the input and operable to produce at least one pulsed output driving signal in which both the duration and height of the pulses are varied according to the on-duration of the input power signal, to thereby control a light intensity output of the solid state lighting unit, such that the output is made to vary in a way that substantially matches the intensity response of the human eye. Various other arrangements of power adaptors are described along with dimmer controllers for use with the power adaptors, including some which involve motion sensing techniques.04-02-2009

20090288033User-Directed Capture of Unstructured Information from Web Pages with Assignment to Data Type - A software application includes a window having at least first and second panels. The first panel is programmed to provide access to Internet-based sources of information. The software application also includes a user-operable selection tool programmed to select non-structured information from an Internet-based source of information presented in the first panel. The software application also includes a menu responsive to the selection tool that is programmed to appear upon the selection of non-structured information, display a plurality of data types to which the selected non-structured information can be assigned, and receive a user-selection of one of the plurality of data types to which the selected non-structured information is to be assigned. The second panel is programmed to, upon selection of one of the plurality of data types, display the selected non-structured data and indicate to which of the plurality of data types the selected information was assigned.11-19-2009
