20100055765SEMI-CLOSED LOOP ALGA-DIESEL FUEL PHOTOBIOREACTOR USING WASTE WATER - A semi-closed loop diesel photobioreactor system and method are provided for producing diesel fuel from wild algae or from specialized algae that has been biologically modified for high efficiency oil production using waste water as a primary food source. The diesel photobioreactor provides a semi-closed loop system with an opening to acquire waste water below the surface to obtain waste water nutrients and to protect the algae species from contamination. The semi-closed loop diesel photobioreactor includes a container that can be designed in a variety of shapes with a tube design preferred, and containing a liquid culture medium for cultivating photosynthetic organisms. The system can utilize natural light and can also deploy an innovative lighting system integrated into the photobioreactor container. The diesel photobioreactor system also has one or more cleaning devices mounted within the container for cleaning the surface of the photobioreactor container.03-04-2010

20100224783HIGH PERFORMANCE NEUTRON DETECTOR WITH NEAR ZERO GAMMA CROSS TALK - A scintillator system is provided to detect the presence of fissile material and radioactive material. One or more neutron detectors are based on 6LiF mixed in a binder medium with scintillator material, and are optically coupled to one or more wavelength shifting fiber optic light guide media that have a tapered portion extending from the scintillator material to guide light from the scintillator material to a photosensor at the tapered portion. An electrical output of the photosensor is connected to an input of a first pre-amp circuit designed to operate close to a pulse shape and duration of a light pulse from the scintillator material, without signal distortion. The scintillator material includes a set of scintillation layers connected to the wavelength shifting fiber optic light guide media that guide light to the photosensor. Moderator material is applied around the set of scintillation layers increasing detector efficiency.09-09-2010
20100224788VARIOUS ARRANGEMENTS OF RADIATION AND FISSILE MATERIALS DETECTION SYSTEMS USING SENSOR ARRAYS IN SPREADER BARS, GANTRY CRANES, SELF-PROPELLED FRAME STRUCTURES, AND TRANSPORT VEHICLES - Sensor arrays arranged in a detection system provide high performance detection of the presence of fissile material and radioactive material in cargo containers and at moderate cost. One or more sensor arrays operate to detect gamma and/or neutron radiation from one or more sides of a container that can be in transport relative to at least one of a spreader bar, a gantry crane, a self-propelled frame structure, and a transport vehicle. A combined use of any two or more of the following: a spreader bar radiation detector array, radiation detectors deployed on the frame of a gantry crane, extended radiation detectors, and a detector array deployed on a BOM cart, truck bed, or bottom area of the container, as the container is moved at a port enables comprehensive coverage of the container under inspection.09-09-2010
20100226580SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR INCREASED GAMMA/NEUTRON DETECTION - A system detects at least one of nuclear and fissile materials. The system includes a plurality of high speed scintillator detectors. Each high speed scintillator detector in the plurality of high speed scintillator detectors includes at least one photo sensor and a pre-amp circuit adapted to eliminate pulse stretching and distortion of detected light pulses emitted from scintillation material when interacting with neutron particles and/or gamma particles. An isotope database includes a plurality of spectral images corresponding to different known isotopes. An information processing system is adapted to compare spectral data received from each high speed scintillator detector to one or more of the spectral images and identify one or more isotopes present in an object or container being monitored.09-09-2010
20100283619MULTI-STAGE SYSTEM FOR VERIFICATION OF CONTAINER CONTENTS - A multi-stage process utilizing one or more radiation sensors on a distributed network for the detection and identification of radiation, explosives, and special materials within a shipping container. The sensors are configured as nodes on the network. The system collects radiation data from one or more nodes. The collected radiation data is dynamically adjusted according to at least one of a plurality of background radiation data based on a determined background environment about the container. The collected and adjusted radiation data is compared to one or more stored spectral images representing one or more isotopes to identify one or more isotopes present. The identified one or more isotopes present are corresponded to possible materials or goods that they represent.11-11-2010
20100294415FABRICATION OF A HIGH PERFORMANCE NEUTRON DETECTOR WITH NEAR ZERO GAMA CROSS TALK - A fabrication method is provided for making a high efficiency neutron detector using a scintillator medium coupled with fiber optic light guides. The light guides provide light pulses to photo sensor and thereby to high speed analog to digital conversion and digital electronics that perform digital pulse shape discrimination for near zero gamma cross talk. Optionally, microwave curing techniques are used for fabricating a high performance neutron detector with high reliability and homogenous distribution of the particles encapsulated in a polymer to produce a high performance neutron detector.11-25-2010
20100294943HIGH PERFORMANCE NEUTRON DETECTOR WITH NEAR ZERO GAMMA CROSS TALK - A scintillator system is provided to detect the presence of fissile material and radioactive material. One or more neutron detectors include scintillator material, and are optically coupled to one or more wavelength shifting fiber optic light guide media that extend from the scintillator material to guide light from the scintillator material to a photosensor. An electrical output of the photosensor is connected to an input of a pre-amp circuit designed to provide an optimum pulse shape for each of neutron pulses and gamma pulses in the detector signals. Scintillator material as neutron detector elements can be spatially distributed with interposed moderator material.
