201000795813D CAMERA USING FLASH WITH STRUCTURED LIGHT - An imaging device capable of capturing depth information or surface profiles of objects is disclosed herein. The imaging device uses an enclosed flashing unit to project a sequence of structured light patterns onto an object and captures the light patterns reflected from the surfaces of the object by using an image sensor that is enclosed in the imaging device. The imaging device is capable of capturing an image of an object such that the captured image is comprised of one or more color components of a two-dimensional image of the object and a depth component that specifies the depth information of the object.04-01-2010

20080246705OFF-STATE LIGHT RECAPTURING IN DISPLAY SYSTEMS EMPLOYING SPATIAL LIGHT MODULATORS - In display systems employing spatial light modulators, the OFF-state light from OFF-state pixels of the spatial light modulator can be captured and directed back to the pixels of the spatial light modulator so as to recycle the OFF-state light in the display system.10-09-2008
20080246706PULSE WIDTH MODULATION ALGORITHM - In display systems employing spatial light modulators, the OFF-state light from OFF-state pixels of the spatial light modulator can be captured and directed back to the pixels of the spatial light modulator so as to recycle the OFF-state light in the display system. Bitplanes derived from the desired image to be produced are calibrated to include the recycled off-state light to properly produce the desired image using the display system.10-09-2008

20090066620Adaptive Pulse-Width Modulated Sequences for Sequential Color Display Systems - Adaptive pulse-width modulated sequences for sequential color display systems and methods. A method for displaying an image comprises receiving the image, computing a duty cycle for the image, generating a color sequence based on the computed duty cycle, and displaying the image using the color sequence. The generating comprises assigning a color cycle order to display time blocks in the color sequence, and assigning bitplane states for each display time block in the color sequence.03-12-2009
20090066718System and Method for Image-based Color Sequence Reallocation - System and method for image-based color sequence reallocation in sequential color display systems. A method comprises generating a color signal from an image to be displayed, wherein the color signal contains light intensity information, computing percentages of the color sequence to be allocated to each color in a set of colors in a sequential color display system, wherein the computing is based on the light intensity information, allocating the color sequence based on the computed percentages, and displaying the image using the color sequence. The allocation of the color sequence based on the image allows for the elimination of color intensities that are greater than needed in displaying the image. Portions of the color sequence formerly used to display the eliminated color intensities may be used to display colors with usable intensities, thereby increasing the brightness of images.03-12-2009
20090128786IMAGING SYSTEM WITH A MICROELECTROMECHANICAL LIGHT VALVE - An imaging system comprises a light valve having an array of light valve pixels. For processing grayscale/color images, each light valve pixel represents a discrete grayscale level. During image processing, desired grayscales can be accomplished by imaging the light valve pixels onto the target such that the perceived grayscale of each target pixel is a sum of grayscales represented by a plurality of light valve pixels.05-21-2009
