Wireless Node Location Mechanism Featuring Definition of Search Region to Optimize Location Computation - A wireless node location mechanism that defines a search region to optimize the computations associated with estimating the location of a given wireless node. According to one implementation, a coverage map associated with each radio receiver that records signal strength data is defined out to a threshold signal strength level. Before computing the estimated location of a given wireless nodes, a search region is defined based on the intersection of the coverage maps associated with each radio receiver that detects the wireless node. Some implementations use information provided by the fact that certain radio receivers did not detect the wireless node to further optimize the location estimate. By defining a search region, which is a generally small area relative to the space encompassed by an entire RF environment, the present invention provides several advantages, such as reducing the processing time and/or power to compute estimated locations for wireless nodes. | 11-20-2008

Editing Web Pages - In particular embodiments, a method for editing a web page includes identifying a plurality of components that collectively form a programmatic representation of a first web page. At least one of the components has content that dynamically changes in response to data retrieved externally from the content. A second web page is generated. The second web page includes a plurality of parameters. Each parameter of the second web page corresponds to a respective one of the identified plurality of components. One or more modifications made to the plurality of parameters are interpreted. A programmatic representation of a third web page is generated, the generation based at least in part on the interpretation. | 01-29-2009
RECORDING A HYPER TEXT TRANSFER PROTOCOL (HTTP) SESSION FOR PLAYBACK - In one embodiment, a method includes recording a sequence of online activities of a first user. The online activities include online consumption of online content by the first user. The method includes constructing a path based on the sequence of online activities of the first user. The path includes a sequence of online activity points that each correspond to one of the online activities in the sequence of online activities of the first user, and the path enables a second user to experience personally for themselves at least an approximation of the sequence of online activities of the first user. The method includes communicating the path for traversal of a portion of the path by the second user. | 01-27-2011

Associating User Comments to Events Presented in a Media Stream - In one embodiment, a method comprises collecting, by a server from a user device, a comment input by a user into the user device, the collecting including identifying a time that the user generated the comment; associating, by the server, the comment input by the user with an identifiable addressable media stream and at an identified position within the addressable media stream that is coincident with the time that the user generated the comment relative to an event presented in the addressable media stream; and generating and outputting by the server a media comment message that identifies the user, the comment generated by the user, the addressable media stream and the identified position within the addressable media stream coinciding with the time that the user generated the comment. | 10-29-2009
Identifying Events in Addressable Video Stream for Generation of Summary Video Stream - In one embodiment, a method comprises identifying, by a device, an addressable media stream selected for presentation by a user; identifying, by the device, a user input that is input by the user during presentation of the addressable media stream to the user, the user input identified relative to an identified position within the addressable media stream; defining by the device a media clip from the addressable media stream based on determining the user input demonstrates a favorable affinity by the user toward the identified position, the defining including the device selecting a media clip start position within the addressable media stream and that precedes the identified position, and the device selecting a media clip end position that follows the identified position; and creating by the device a summary media clip of the addressable media stream that includes at least the media clip. | 01-28-2010
AUTOMATIC MODERATION OF MEDIA CONTENT BY A FIRST CONTENT PROVIDER BASED ON DETECTED MODERATION BY A SECOND CONTENT PROVIDER - In one embodiment, a method comprises registering content providers, each content provider having a corresponding independent moderation policy configured for selectively providing network access to a media content item supplied by a user; receiving, from a first of the content providers, a first notification that a first media content item has been moderated by the first content provider; and sending a second notification to at least a second of the content providers, the second notification identifying that the first content provider has moderated the first media content item, the second notification enabling the second content provider to moderate the first media content item based on the second notification and according to the corresponding independent moderation policy of the second content provider. | 03-31-2011
METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR SUPPORTING MULTIPLE PARTY LOGIN INTO A SINGLE SESSION - In one embodiment, a method includes establishing a session by associating at least a first party with the session. The first party is associated with a first device, and is associated with the session through the first device. The method also includes defining an effective user to include the first party, tracking actions taken with respect to the session by the effective user, and attributing the actions taken with respect to the session by the effective user to the first party and to the effective user. | 05-05-2011
