20120080823ENGINEERED WOOD FIBER PRODUCT SUBSTRATES AND THEIR FORMATION BY LASER PROCESSING - A laser is used to a form information indicative of a pattern on a surface of a support piece formed from a compressed wood fiber product substrate. The pattern can be a wood grain. The field of the laser is increased, to allow lazing more of the material at once. According to an embodiment, the field is increased in a way that does not reduce the resolution of the lasing.04-05-2012

20110185998TOROIDAL ENGINE - A toroidal engine that can be powered by a fuel/air mixture or by a compressed gas source. The toroidal engine uses one-way bearings to transfer torque generated in a toroidal chamber directly to a drive shaft. Pairs of pistons are mounted on two crank assemblies, which are concentric with the drive shaft. One-way bearings allow the crank assemblies to turn, one at a time, in one direction only. The crank assemblies are directly coupled to the drive shaft, which eliminates the need for complex gear and linkage arrangements. A system can be used with the toroidal engine to alternately stop the crank assemblies at a pre-determined position and to time the ignition of the engine.08-04-2011

20090220934METHODS AND PROCESSES OF CONTROLLING FERMENTATION - The present invention relates to methods and processes for controlling fermentation. Two proportional feedback control loops are implemented in a cascade. One control loop is used to maintain the pH by adjusting the dissolved oxygen-stat setpoint. The other control loop is used to maintain the dissolved oxygen by regulating the nutrient feed rate using the newly adjusted dissolved oxygen-set point.09-03-2009

20090045390Multi-resistive state memory device with conductive oxide electrodes - A memory cell including conductive oxide electrodes is disclosed. The memory cell includes a memory element operative to store data as a plurality of resistive states. The memory element includes a layer of a conductive metal oxide (CMO) (e.g., a perovskite) in contact with an electrode that may comprise one or more layers of material. At least one of those layers of material can be a conductive oxide (e.g., a perovskite such as LaSrCoO02-19-2009

20090309382Slide-Out Mechanism - An operating mechanism for laterally moving a slide-out section relative to a vehicle between a retracted position and an extended position includes a rack and pinion assembly mounted to a frame. The pinion preferably has a non-round hole through which a non-round drive shaft is received in driving engagement. The pinion is received in a channel with sides of the channel adjacent to the sides of the pinion. The pinion floats axially on the drive shaft and the sides of the channel maintain the axial position of the pinion on the drive shaft. The shape of the drive shaft and the hole in the pinion is preferably square.12-17-2009

20110022760SATISFYING A REQUEST FOR A PHYSICAL IMPORT/EXPORT SLOT WITH A SLOT THAT IS NOT A PHYSICAL IMPORT/EXPORT SLOT - A request for a physical import/export (I/E) slot is satisfied using a tape library slot that is not a physical I/E slot. According to one embodiment, the request for the physical I/E slot, that is associated with the tape library, is received. A different slot, which is not any of the physical I/E slots associated with the tape library, is used to satisfy the request.01-27-2011

20080249599Stent With Therapeutic Agent Delivery Structures in Low Strain Regions - A system for treating abnormalities of the cardiovascular system includes a stent having a plurality of therapeutic agent-carrying regions and non therapeutic agent-carrying regions. The therapeutic agent-carrying regions are located within low strain regions of the stent and the non therapeutic agent-carrying regions are located within high strain regions of the stent. Another embodiment of the invention includes a method of manufacturing a therapeutic agent-carrying stent comprising forming a stent framework and applying a formulation containing one or more therapeutic agents to the stent framework while preventing the therapeutic agents from contacting the high strain regions of the stent framework.10-09-2008
20090093871Medical Implant With Internal Drug Delivery System - A system for treating a vascular condition includes a catheter and a stent disposed on the catheter. The stent includes tubing having a wall defining a central lumen and a plurality of holes. The system further includes a therapeutic agent disposed within the central lumen of the tubing. A method of manufacturing a therapeutic agent carrying stent includes inserting a therapeutic agent within a therapeutic agent delivery system into the central lumen of a hollow metal tube and forming a stent framework from the hollow tube.04-09-2009
20090196899Controlled Alloy Stent - A method of manufacturing a stent includes determining a porosity characteristic and combining at least two predetermined alloy constituents based on the porosity characteristic. The method further determines a solidification profile based on the porosity characteristic and combined alloy constituents and solidifies the combined alloy constituents based on the solidification profile. In addition, the method includes forming a stent framework from the solidified alloy constituents, removing at least a portion of at least one of the alloy constituents, and forming pores within the stent framework based on the removal and consistent with the porosity characteristic.08-06-2009
