20090027225 | Method and apparatus for providing occupancy information in a fire alarm system - A method is provided for presenting occupancy information in a fire alarm system. The method includes obtaining event data indicative of an emergency event within a zone of a premises, obtaining count information indicative of a number of individuals within the zone of the premises, and displaying the event data and the count information for the zone simultaneously. | 01-29-2009 |
20120119921 | APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR PROVIDING EMERGENCY OVERRIDE OF INFORMATIONAL DISPLAYS - Various embodiments are generally directed to a system and method for providing emergency override of informational displays in an emergency notification system. An embodiment may include an emergency detection module coupled to a display override module. The display override module may be coupled to a third-party display driver. When an emergency condition is detected, the emergency detection module may use the display override module to override any display messages from the third-party display module in order to display an emergency display message. In an embodiment, the display override module may be a switch box. In another embodiment, the display override module may be a RSS feed subscribed to by the third-party display driver. Other embodiments are described and claimed. | 05-17-2012 |
20120120399 | DUCT DETECTOR - A particle detection unit including a detection chamber and a duct detector is disclosed. The duct detector is disposed within the detection chamber. The duct detector has a rod with a first and a second end where the first end is distal the second end. A reflector may be attached to the rod adjacent the first end. A sensor and emitter device may be attached to the rod and spaced apart from the reflector. | 05-17-2012 |
20130041646 | SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR EMERGENCY MESSAGE PREVIEW AND TRANSMISSION - In accordance with the embodiments of the present invention, a system and method for enabling preview, editing, and transmission of emergency notification messages is provided. The system includes a controller, a microphone, and a speech-to-text engine for receiving an audio message input to the microphone and for convert the audio message to a text message. The resulting text message is displayed on a local display, where a user can edit the message via a text editor. Text and/or audio notification devices are provided for displaying the edited text data as a text message. Other embodiments are disclosed and claimed. | 02-14-2013 |
20130082839 | SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR WIRELESS HEAT DETECTION - A system for wireless heat detection is disclosed. The system includes one or more heat sensors that convert sensed heat energy into electrical power for transmitting an alarm signals. A remote system may trigger an alarm based on the received alarm signals. The heat sensors may be placed at discrete locations within an interior of a building to monitor a condition of the infrastructure of the building. The remote system can include a communications module for receiving the signal and transmitting an alarm signal to an associated fire panel. The fire panel may analyze the signal, as well as signals generated from adjacent sensors, to determine whether a fire condition exists within a building. Appropriate notification devices may then be activated based on the determination. Other embodiments are disclosed and claimed. | 04-04-2013 |
20140064461 | FIRE ALARM WITH INTEGRATED FIREFIGHTER COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM - A fire control system may include a fire alarm control panel situated at a first location, the fire alarm control panel coupled to a first hardwire circuit. The fire control system may also include one or more telephone stations, wherein each telephone station of the one or more telephone stations is disposed at a different location than each other telephone stations and coupled through the first hardwire circuit to the fire alarm control panel, and one or more radio repeaters are each disposed at one or more respective locations, and wherein each radio repeater is operative to receive audio information as a radio signal and to transmit the audio information as an electrical signal through a second hardwire circuit to the central telephone. | 03-06-2014 |
20140266672 | REAL TIME CONTROL CHART GENERATION AND MONITORING OF SAFETY SYSTEMS - A safety system may include a monitoring device that receives analog values of various parameters from one or more safety appliances. The analog values may be compared to upper and lower control limits in control charts for the parameters for each safety appliance. When an analog value falls outside of the upper control limit or lower control limit in the control chart, an alert may be issued to indicate that the safety appliance may be degrading or failing. The monitoring device may also generate control charts for safety appliances from the analog values output from the safety appliances. | 09-18-2014 |
20150248832 | Method and Apparatus for Testing Fire Alarm Initiating Devices - According to systems and methods for testing alarm initiating devices of a fire alarm system, a control panel of the fire alarm system is placed into test mode. Then, during a walkthrough test, an inspector activates an inspector-activated mechanism of a device. This sends a test mode signal to the control panel, which places the device into a test mode. The inspector or inspector then manually activates the device. The control panel initiates a fire alarm condition in response to a received device signals while the control panel not initiating a fire alarm condition when the device signals are indicative of a fire if the device signals were from alarm initiating devices in the test mode. Alternatively, the control panel places a group of alarm initiating devices into test mode on a rolling basis. As the inspector tests the devices, additional devices are added to the group and previously tested devices are returned to normal operation mode. | 09-03-2015 |
