20110287692Automated determination of jet orientation parameters in three-dimensional fluid jet cutting - Methods, systems, and techniques for automatically determining jet orientation parameters to correct for potential deviations in three dimensional part cutting are provided. Example embodiments provide an Adaptive Vector Control System (AVCS), which automatically determines speeds and orientation parameters of a cutting jet to attempt to insure that a part will be cut within prescribed tolerances where possible. In one embodiment, the AVCS determines the tilt and swivel of a cutting head by mathematical predictive models that examine the cutting front for each of “m” hypothetical layers in a desired part, to better predict whether the part will be within tolerances, and to determine what corrective angles are needed to correct for deviations due to drag, radial deflection, and/or taper.11-24-2011

20100144007APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR LOADING SOFT MATERIALS - The present invention provides an apparatus for loading soft materials and methods for using the same. In some embodiments, the apparatus is a gearless mechanical loading apparatus which converts a rotational movement of one end of a first element into an arc of a circle movement of the other end of the first element; and converts the arc of a circle movement of the other end of the first element into a precision two-dimensional lateral movement of a second element.06-10-2010

20080297815SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ATTENUATION OF NEAR-NEUTRAL IMAGE COLORS - A method for attenuation of near-neutral image colors is described. The pixel chroma is determined. A chroma control point is determined. A pixel color is shifted toward neutral. An imaging device that is configured for attenuation of near-neutral image colors is described. The imaging device includes a processor. The imaging processing device includes memory in electronic communication with the processor. Instructions are stored in the memory. The instructions are executable to determine pixel chroma. The instructions are also executable to determine a chroma control point. The instructions are further executable to shift a pixel color toward neutral.12-04-2008
20090296169Imaging device with adjustable imaging surface - An imaging device has an adjustable imaging surface that can be readily enlarged by a user from a first size to a second size and reduced by the user from the second size to the first size to meet imaging requirements. The imaging device thus permits imaging of larger documents than its desktop footprint would conventionally support. For example, when a user of such an imaging device has a full sheet document that requires flatbed scanning, the user can temporarily enlarge the imaging surface from half sheet size to full sheet size and scan the document. Once the user has scanned the document, the user can reduce the imaging surface from the full sheet size to the half sheet size to reduce the desktop footprint of the imaging device.12-03-2009
20110188093Methods and Systems for No-Touch Scanning - Aspects of the present invention are related to systems and methods for scanning a document wherein a scan function is invoked implicitly by a user positioning a document object, or document objects, to be scanned near an active surface of the scanner. According to one aspect of the present invention, the user's intent to scan a document object may be determined by an active-sensing pipeline.08-04-2011
20110235855Color Gradient Object Tracking - A system and method are provided for color gradient object tracking. A tracking area is illuminated with a chromatic light source. A color value is measured, defined by at least three attributes, reflected from an object in the tracking area, and analyzed with respect to chromatic light source characteristics. A lookup table (LUT) is accessed that cross-references color values to positions in the tracking area, and in response to accessing the LUT, the object position in the tracking area is determined. The LUT is initially built by illuminating the tracking area with the light source. A test object is inserted into the tracking area in a plurality of determined positions, and the reflected color value is measured at each determined position. The color value measurements are correlated to determined positions. As a result, a color gradient can be measured between a first determined position and a second determined position.09-29-2011

20090123683Low-Permeation Flexible Fuel Hose - A flexible hose having a non-fluorinated rubber inner tube, a non-fluorinated rubber outer cover, an intermediate barrier layer consisting essentially of ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (EVOH) having an ethylene content less than 30 mole %, and preferably a textile reinforcement between said barrier layer and said outer cover. A non-fluorinated rubber tie layer may be included between the barrier and the reinforcement. Permeability to ethanol- and methanol-containing fuels is very low.05-14-2009
