20080311612Functional Expression of Higher Plant Nitrate Transporters in Pichia Pastoris - The present invention relates to a system for functional expression of higher plant nitrate transporter (Nrt) genes in 12-18-2008
20080313775Nitrate reductases from red algae, compositions and methods of use thereof - The NR enzymes described herein were discovered in the red algae of 12-18-2008
20090011516Methods and Assays for the Detection of Nitrogen Uptake by a Plant and Uses Thereof - The invention provides a rapid and efficient method and assay for monitoring nitrogen uptake by a plant using a pH indicator. The plant is exposed to medium comprising one or more sources of nitrogen, such as nitrate or ammonia, and a pH indicator. The plant is exposed to the source of nitrogen for a time sufficient for it to be taken up by the plant. As nitrate is taken up from the medium, the medium becomes more basic, that is the pH increases. Conversely, as ammonia is taken up from the medium, the medium becomes more acidic and the pH decreases. The change in the pH of the medium may be optically detected and correlated to the amount of nitrate or ammonia remaining in the medium. Accordingly, the amount of nitrate or ammonia taken up by the plant or remaining in the medium may be determined.01-08-2009
20100132072Method to Increase Crop Grain Yield Utilizing Complementary Paired Growth and Yield Genes - The present invention provides methods to increase crop yield utilizing transgenic complementary paired genes controlling plant growth and yield. The specific genes increase female reproductive organs and are paired with genes responsible for modifying the growth of non-yield specific plant tissues. Plants, plant progeny, seeds and tissues created by these methods are also described. Polynucleotides encoding the paired sequences are provided for expression in a plant of interest. Expression cassettes, plants, plant cells, plant parts and seeds comprising the sequences of the invention are further provided. In specific embodiments, the polynucleotide is operably linked to a constitutive promoter.05-27-2010
20100175147Functional expression of higher plant nitrate transporters in Pichia Pastoris - The present invention relates to a system for functional expression of higher plant nitrate transporter (Nrt) genes in 07-08-2010
20110041216Nitrate reductases from red algae, compositions and methods of use thereof - The NR enzymes described herein were discovered in the red algae of 02-17-2011
20110047647FUNCTIONAL EXPRESSION OF SHUFFLED YEAST NITRATE TRANSPORTER (YNT1) IN MAIZE TO IMPROVE NITRATE UPTAKE UNDER LOW NITRATE ENVIRONMENT - The present invention provides methods and compositions relating to altering NT activity, nitrogen utilization efficiency and/or uptake in plants. The invention relates to a method for the production of plants with maintained or increased yield under low nitrogen fertility. The invention provides isolated nitrate transporter variant (NT variant) nucleic acids and their encoded proteins. The invention further provides recombinant expression cassettes, host cells, and transgenic plants. Plants transformed with nucleotide sequences encoding the NT variant enzyme show improved properties, for example, increased yield.02-24-2011
20110061132FUNCTIONAL EXPRESSION OF YEAST NITRATE TRANSPORTER (YNT1) IN MAIZE TO IMPROVE NITRATE UPTAKE - The present invention provides methods and compositions relating to altering NT activity, nitrogen utilization and/or uptake in plants. The invention relates to a method for the production of plants with maintained or increased yield under low or normal nitrogen fertility. The invention provides isolated nitrate transporter (NT) nucleic acids and their encoded proteins. The invention further provides recombinant expression cassettes, host cells, and transgenic plants. Plants transformed with nucleotide sequences encoding the NT enzyme show improved properties, for example, increased yield.03-10-2011
