| 20090210872 | METHOD TO ENHANCE THE SCALABILITY OF NETWORK CACHING CAPABILITY IN VIRTUALIZED ENVIRONMENT - A mechanism is provided to enhance the scalability of network caching capabilities. All network client applications running on a partition in a virtualized environment are configured to query information from a single virtual input/output server (VIOS) network caching daemon. Thus, the illustrative embodiments provide a 1:n model where a VIOS partition has a network caching daemon, and each of the n partitions uses the network caching daemon of the VIOS partition. The mechanism of the illustrative embodiments only requires the system administrator to control one copy of the local files on the VIOS server. The system administrator does not need to monitor all of these local files on each individual partition. The system administrator consolidates the entries used by the different individual partitions into one single file on the VIOS server side. | 08-20-2009 |

Each radiating element resonates at a different frequency. In one embodiment of the invention a feed network has a single, cross-shaped, feed line that is positioned between the inner and outer radiating elements and capacitively coupled to the inner and outer radiating elements. In another embodiment of the present invention, the radiating elements are fed separately by first and second feed networks each having a plurality of feed points. The radiating elements each have one active feed point that is either directly or indirectly coupled to its respective feed network. | 06-04-2009 |

| 20090270321 | Over-expression of MPS-1 gene or its gene product(s) results in reduction in size of a variety of malignancies - Metallopanstimulin-1 (MPS-1) is a multifunctional ribosomal protein. MPS-1 is a 10 kD zinc finger protein (ZFP) that is present in all tissues and expressed in increased quantities in a wide variety of proliferating tissues and malignancies. The ribosome is a ribonucleoprotein complex of ribosomal RNAs (rRNA) and proteins (r-protein). Conventionally, r-proteins are thought to be responsible for new protein synthesis, but emerging evidence has shown activity exists beyond this. Some extra-ribosomal functions of r-proteins have been observed in close relation to cancer pathology. MPS-1 is over-expressed in the serum and tissue of dozens of malignancies. However, it is unknown whether the enhanced expression of MPS-1 is the cause or result of tumor development and progression. Our preliminary observations show increased MPS-1 decreases paxillin. Recently, paxillin was found to have an important role in regulating both normal and tumor cell proliferation. | 10-29-2009 |

| 20100152895 | Shock freezer and system for preparing samples for analysis using the same - A shock freezer for rapidly freezing a sample preparatory to analysis, comprises an insulated closed container containing cryogenic fluid; a tubing disposed through the container having one end in contact with the cryogenic fluid and another end communicating outside the container, the another end for receiving a needle containing a sample to be shock frozen. The tubing has an inside diameter larger than an outside diameter of a capillary to be inserted therein to provide a space between an inside surface of the tubing and an outside surface of a capillary to be inserted therein to provide passageway for the cryogenic fluid to flow to the outside. An outlet communicates with an interior of the container. A relief valve is operably associated with the outlet, the relief valve being normally open to relieve pressure within the container, and the relief valve being closed when a capillary to be inserted containing a sample to be frozen is inserted into the tubing through the another end to allow pressure within the container to build up and force the cryogenic fluid to flow upwardly through the tubing through the space, thereby to freeze a sample in a capillary to be inserted. | 06-17-2010 |
